Can anyone please tell me if i would be able to use the Samsung sh-s182 dvd writer along with the Samsung sh-d162c to make back-up games? I know most people are using the Pioneer dvr-111d, is there a specific reason why? Thx for the help!

It should work, If it does not work, you may have to update you X360 Drive firmware (especially if you have a Hitachi).

Plse take the time wink.gif to explorer the pinned section at the top of the forum ( Backup Faq - Everything* You Need To Know PLEASE READ BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS! ) .

I will also direct you to the following sections.
You will find a very good overview document here

Also look at the newbie section for most of the questions we all have when we begin wink.gif.

A quick way to check drive compatibility of you are going to be using Xbox Backup Creator, which I reccommend is to just slap the drive in your PC, load up the program, and see if XBC recognizes it, if not you are going to have to try another method or a different drive. I found the LG burners work nicely....

Thx for the replies. My Samsung drive is recognized by XBC. I guess it will do just fine then.

I cannot for life of me get the ss.bin. I don't know what folder to use the command folder for to open up the getss.exe program. I have an Hitachi v59 and I already have it flashed with Maximus-Garyopa_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_2_Stealth. But I cant get the SS.bin extracted. Please!!!!!!!

sometimes the getss software does not work,
after your drive is seen in windows, use XBCreator under the tab DriveTools.
