That's not an xTV/skinning question, that's an XBMC question. You should ask in the main XBMC forum and I suggest you try giving more information so someone can help you better (like whether you're using files view or library mode).

If it were incorporated, that would look great, I think CD/DVD overlays would be a fantastic feature to add. If anyone knows how, let me know!

Im not one to shit on a thread, actually I think the overlays looks nice. But i'm happy either way. Still like the idea though and I think a lot of people would do too, it would be great to see it added somehow.

hi all i was woundering can i add the apple movie trailers icon and launcher to the main menu of xtv so i can select it and run the script stright away without going into 3 diffrent menus before i can run it ????

at the moment the Icon from AMT is the Standart- TV Icon!!

I did exactly as said,
I now see Apple Movie Trailers from main menu, however, when I hit it, it loads a screen

"XBOX MEDIA CENTER APPLE MOVIE TRAILERS"

but nothing is on the screen, no other info, nothing at all. What's going on? Do I have an out-dated script or something?

If you browse through xbmc settings to get to the scripts menu, you see a terrific AppleMovieTrailers logo image that could be used as the image to represent AMT on the main menu. See the one i mean?

yes pleas update the Script, and Dell the data in the Folder "Q:\Userdata\Cache"
and then test it again...


and for the ICON:

Very new to all this and getting very frustrated.

I made the change to XBMC ok - but cannot find the latest download of xTV - I have found a link to Revision 978 - (https://xboxmediacenter.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/xboxmediacenter/xTV/) but cannot download it all as one. I would have to download each individual file (which will take a very long time)

I have tried some of the links in this thread, but most of them are unavailable - including the link on page 1 of this thread! Could some really kind person give me a working link so that I can download the most recent version.

First and foremost, download a subversion client. Most people (including myself) recommend TortoiseSVN, which you'll need to download xTV via SVN. Install it. After that, this guide should get you going!

I updated the latest svn of XTV and have the new 3D Cover Art (cover Flow) for music albums and it looks great.
I was wondering if there is a mod to show either of the two ideas when in my music or movie folder below
1. Using the list view, show my selected album or movie with its thumbnail either obtained from online or included in the folder and also the downloaded album information. I find that even though I would hve previously downloaded Album information it still goes online everytime.
2. Using the ne 3D Cover Art view, show my selected album or movie and the info obtained online about the item.

Hope someone can help me achieve most if not all of this or show me how its done already.

hi al had a bit of play if you want apple movie trailers in your home page just alter this file HOME.xml look for the youtube part and alter it to this

this is the quickest and easy way to do it but remember you have to enable youtube on the home page in the skin settings on XBMC to make it display it on the home page

the only thing is i can not change the icons, does anyone know what the apple icon is called in the textures pack so i can rename it and try it out

First - Wow - excellent skin - what a superb job - transformed an out of date product into something I can use all the time now - superb

Having a couple of problems:

1. Coverflow. If I only have one movie or one TV show in the directory if you choose coverflow to display it repeats the same cover all across the screen and lets you scroll left or right. If there is only one item should it only display one cover? Have had to revert to list mode at present.

2. TV shows menu. Having problems undersanding what is going on here. I have 2 TV shows each in their own folder. I have specified content to be TV and it has downloaed the information and thumb for the shows. However, if I then open the folder nothing is shown so I cannot select each episode. Am I doing something wrong? Currently have had to turn of the TV show menu - but would like to get it working so that I can split up my Movies and Shows.

3. Also read quite a few pages back that you can select automatically add movies to library - I cannot find this setting?

Assuming you're using the default color scheme, you need to edit this line:



in xTV/colors/defaults.xml

When I go to "Now Playing", the thumbnail is stretched to cover the width of the progress bar underneath. This is kinda ugly for square album covers, which become rectangles.

Dunno if this is an XBMC or xTV issue, but I tried other skins (such as PMIII and Containment) and these do not display any images for "Now Playing".

TV shows button - want to point to a set folder.

I know that this has been asked a lot - and a few answers given, but not quite a full answer.

People have asked to have Movies button point to a certain folder and the TV shows button point to another folder by default. All the answers just address the movies button - ie, press white button and select set as default.

How do you do the same for the TV Shows button. Each time I select the TV shows button it goes into library mode and I can not just select the folder I want to view.

Any suggestions?

i am still having this problem where, the screen keeps on going black and refreshing when i change between certain menus on the xtv skin.
I completely removed XMBC, reinstalled it and then reinstalled the xtv skin i had - what's the latest version??

My TV does upto 480p but even with the xbox HD component cable plugged in, it doesnt allow me to use the 480p options.

Any ideas why I cant get this skin to display properly? the refreshing issues etc?

this question has been asked to many times. simple answer is, xtv uses libary function for tv button, its only way chief could make it work..... tehre are some hacks to get round it, but it wont work as well as original skin method (animations may be off). if you do want to do the hacks, read back....my sugestion though, do what i did and embrase the libary. its very usefull once you got it up and running. libary aint going away so makes sence to embrase

ps, cheers ac/dc got diff colour text working a treat. not mesed arround in skin since before colours were implemented, didnt even notice folder. stoopid me for not looking

In order to "embrace the library" could you give a step by step easy way to get it working properly?

I have the folders set with the correct content - ie - movies for the movies folder and tv shows for the tv shows folder. However, when I use the menu TV shows - all I ever get is a blank window with the big up and down arrow.

In my TV shows folder I do have other folders to separate all the different progs for example TopGear, Prison Break etc - inside these are all the individual episodes - is this the problem?

Any simple advice would help.

So I have tried to work out this library thing. I can now see the folders for my TV Shows - unfortunately I cannot see any of the episodes that are inside them. What is going wrong? Are they supposed to be named in a certain way?

This is most frustrating - I am almost there, and do see the benefit of the library - makes searching for films and shows much easier.

Currently I have all the TV shows folders added as separate shared folders, along with my movie folder (originally I just had the folder that contained them all as the shared folder) but this still has not helped.

How do I get the individual episodes to show when I select one of the folder?

I had a problem with the library not showing any episodes for a TV show, even though there were a number of files present. I think the issue here was the scraper getting confused because of a US remake of a British show. But it could be an issue with the regular expression used for recognizing episodes, perhaps?

You might have better luck if you ask in the general XBMC support forums. Is this really an xTV issue? Does it occur when using other skins?

In order to use the libary, first you must scan the folder that contains all your tv videos. Way i do this, is to browse to this folder through movies button, then white button the folder, set content to TV and scan the folder.

This will populate the libary and it can be accessed from the tv button in home screen...... Tv files must be named in correct order, there are several diff expressions, but easiest format is to go "tv show name - S01E01"

example "prison break - S03E02.avi" (season 3 eppisode 2)

It might seem a bit of a ball ache renamign files, but there are several apps which can help, simple google search for renaming migth help.

Once your done though, its plain sailing....... by the way, if you have trouble with UK shows coming up as american, try setting a ddiff scraper (when you set content, tehre are several diff scrapers to use, ie IMDB.com or TV.com etc) find somethign that suits

That helped for one of the folders, but the other ones still don't show any of the episodes within. There must be a way of showing episode listings that are not in the scrapers - a manual way of allowing them to be shown in the library. One example - I have 3 episodes from the latest series of TopGear that I recently recorded. None of these appear in any of the scrapers.

Going to have a search in the XBMC forum to see if they have an answer - unless anyone knows here?

You're most likely doing something wrong then. It's been acknowledged that the only non-broken scraper for TV shows is the tvdb.com scraper and it most certainly has listings for TopGear. Here is it's page on that site:

Are your TopGear episodes using the same file name structure as the ones that did scan in? Usually episodes failing to scan is a result of how you have your files named. The wiki talks about this failry in depth. XBMC needs to be able to "read" your file names so that it knows what season and episode it is. If you are using a file name structure that XBMC doesn't understand then it won't scan in those episodes.

I certainly think it has something to do with the way my files are in the directory and named-

currently they are:

TVShows/Top Gear/S10E01.avi
The folder Top Gear shows up - but none of the files inside

After reading I think I may have to break it down more so it should be:
TVShows/Top Gear/Season 10/TopGear.s10.e01.avi

and use a similar for other shows:
TVShows/Prison Break/Season 2/PrisonBreak.s02.e01-Manhunt.avi

The only folder that I have set content to is the TVShows (using TV.com) - not all the other folders below?

Thats your problem.... you need Tv Shows\Top Gear\Top Gear - S10E01.avi (you can use "." insteat of "-" I dont know if xbmc lets you by default, but you can specify your seperators in advancedsettings.xml, but i sugest taking safe route and using "-", looks nicer imo and deff works with no extra work.

Can get all my TV shows to be seen except season 2 of Hyperdrive - which is really strange as season 1 shows up perfectly and I used the same naming convention for the second season

the ones that show are in a fodler: TVShows/Hyperdrive/Season 1/Hyperdrive - s01e01 - A Gift from the Glish.avi etc

the ones that don't show are in another folder: TVShows/Hyperdrive/Season 2/Hyperdrive - s02e01 - Green Javelins.avi etc

Any suggestions?

The naming convention is the same for both of thise files so they should both work.

they are now: Hyperdrive - 2x01.Green Javelin.avi etc etc

Did a re-scan and up they came.

Just as a heads up, a svn build of xTV or Containment will not work till the next T3CH release due to me redoing all the labels to use the new string localization so you will not get any labels that are coded into the skin.

Any chance that you might update the skin to take advantage of the new AMT plugins? Specifically, the new Movie Trailer plugin (plays a random Apple Movie trailer before playing your movie selection). The plugin settings dialog box isn't visible in xTV. Per Nuka1195, the skin would have to be updated to take advantage of the dialog box (see - http://xboxmediacenter.com/forum/showthrea...089&page=13, specifically post #125).

OK, I found something that does what I want. Its a modified PMIII skin.

Realised that you can actualy see a song info in XTV, my mistake. till interested it seein the cover art like the above tho.

Once I get a network going here at my girlfriends house I will be able to do some real skin work. right now I am using a flash drive to transfer files and I refuse to do real skin work that way. Oh and the worse part is that xbmcpc will not work on her computer(probably cause of the gfx card), I will be getting a new laptop in a couple weeks.

Just started to use your skin and it is amazing.

Looking forward to seeing what else you can do with the skin when you get set up.

My vote goes for being able to customize the home page with things like powerbutton, favourites, scripts, filemanager, settings etc.

Also would be great if when you select the Weather on the home page instead of bringing up the icon it could bring up todays weather like you get in the Project Mayhem III skin.

Your script has just made using my XBMC even more enjoyable, thanks for your efforts.

Also, bit controvertial after all thats been said, but I been thiking about the Tv link button/libary view etc. Know you have to have link to file view AND libary for movies and TV due to xbmc limitations, however i think its the wrong way round. Think about it, TV shows are the files that users update the most, and so are constantly havign to rescan tv show folder, why not have TV files in file view mode, and movies (which doesnt get updated much) in libary mode. makes much more sence (IMO)

Also, any chance that you could increase the characters used in music, (both down bottom, and top in media overlays, as well as now playing visuals, as long tags get cut offf....
