hey im trying to back up dead or alive 4 with XBC and a sh-d163a and i keep getting stuck at 19.08%.. i've done several back ups and this is the first error ever. The disc appears to be in good condition- no scratches or dirt and ive cleaned it several times to make sure. it plays perfectly in the 360. when u try to READ it to an ISO file on the computer, i get a pop-up error message at 19.08% saying
QUOTE(XBC error message)

a read error has occurred in the file system data area. if this data cannot be recovered or you choose to zero fill this section it will result in a incomplete backup

partition set lba: 575776
overall offset lba: 705600

Name: chrthree.afs

if i choose RETRY READ it will try for a minute then the same error will occur and the log will say 40 sectors recovered or something similar..

anyone have any ideas???

here is the log file from the last attempt:

first thing is to know if it is XBCr of the disk.

can you try with another soft like isobuster (just to know if it is the soft)

and this is the best tutorial , only in step 2 change the FF 08 01 01 for FF 08 01 11 01 as per image below

IPB Image

If that still does not work it is your disk, read this post.

im confused. you said to enter those values in step 2 and there are TWO SEPERATE STEP 2's.. which one are you talking about???? theres one in the securty sector extraction process and one in the game extraction process.... am i suppose to skip the SS extraction process and straight to game extraction process?? that tutorial asks to SEND CUSTOM COMMANDS 5 times.. the first four times (which are in the SS process) require a value in CDB's 0 through 11 . then on the FIFTH CUSTOM COMMAND (which is in the extraction process) only CDB's 0 through 3 are shown to need a value.. you showed me an image of one custom command and i dont know where that goes out of all 5 custom commands... and am i suppose to replace the rest of the 00's that are in CDB 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 with what it says in the tutorial or do i leave them zero? if you could type out the full CDBs for every custom command that would be nice. i dont even know if i am suppse to follow the whole tutorial just to extract an image... i suppose so and i tried but i dont think i did it right.. when i open isobuster it says it cant find any file-systems or folders, only track/session layout.

For the custom command set in the CDB Structure you will enter the following
FF 08 01 01 as shown below in figure 2.8 (below)

in the second step 2 where is says ^ , instead use FF 08 01 11 01 and send
then continue until you have extracted you game.iso.

if it works, then you can merge both using ssmerger.

if not, then it could be your original is marginal,

ok, do i need to extract the SS first before extracting game.iso? if so, do i plug FF 08 01 11 01 into the FIRST PART2 or do i copy exactly how the tutorial has it for those four send commands?? and after i send the command in the game extraction process, do i just close it out? i dont even know what sending these commands does!
sosotiit
follow the tutorial to the word ( and until the game.iso is extracted) except for the change I told you,

The first four extract the ss

the last one (with the change) unlocks your drive.

after the ss and game iso are extracted, then combine game.iso and ss with ssmerger ( use pad with blank option and deselect nme option).

NOte that if your game.iso extract in isobuster it is already a good sign.

when i first get into ISOuster it prompts me with a window saying it couldnt find any system files or folders. it says it DID find the track/session layout. is this normal? this same window asks if we want to search for missing files or something like that.. the options are MAKE IT SO (which i assume means OK) and CANCEL. i chose CANCEL since i didnt know what it was talking about. also, instead of saying CD, like it says in the tutorial, mine says DVD with the + symbol next to it. but i go to right-click on it and go to EXTRACT FROM-TO and i save it as game.iso.. but for the SAVE FILE TYPE AS it only shows .TAO as the only supported file type to save to.. is this normal also?

If so, i tried extracting and at about 11% i get an error saying sector 405160 couldn't be read ERROR: 5/64/00 .. do i condemn the disc even though it works perfect when played?

You have done several backup with that same kreon drive before??
seems to be the drive or the disk, try with another game and if you still have that, something is wrong with your drive; if it is ok with another game, then it is likely your dead or alive 4 has a problem

nooo too much work opening it back up dont you think? wouldnt it be quicker by trying a differnt game and seeing if it completes? has there ever been a case where a game wouldnt work with a kreon drive but would work with a 360 sammy??
sosotiit
yes, all drive do not have the same sensitivity, sometime the sammy is better, sometimes worst. Might be that the game is marginal and the kreon can just not compensate enough, maybe the sammy would , but again not sure biggrin.gif .
