i have a backup here and it is not stealth patched, but is stealth patching required with the new firmware?
and if so how do i stealth patch it

Dpends how you do your backups and the tools you have,
easiest is to use XBCr or schtrom form the original and everuthing will be there,

well my original copy is damaged and is useless so can i stealth patch a backup that isnt stealth patched and if so how

Hmmmm!!
All backup discussion starts from the original, so I guess you will have to continue without the stealth portion.
So in order to do this you would have to do your backup form another backup and it would against the rules
