Guys ,

i bought a DVR-104 OEM 3 weeks ago and its from feb 2002 with firmware 1.1.

now i want to upgrade to 1.2 , i downloaded the upgrade from pioneer but it says firmware mismatch. it seems my drive is from apple/sony/compaq?
but how do i find out who the fucing reseller is, i searched in apple/compaq and sony webpage, but nothing found about DVR-104 firmware upgrade.

Try the 1.3x firmware at this location:

This is the first time I've seen the A04 and the 104 use the same firmware file, so it might work for you.

It's not version 1.2, but the newer version that prevents the laser from burning up if it doesn't recognize the media. I'd recommend using that verison!

If it doesn't work, I'd call Pioneer and tell them your situation. I'm sure they'd want to provide you with a fix to avoid a class action suit from all the people in your situation!
