Indeed, the prosecutor had asked for a 340-year sentence but the trial judge imposed the minimum of 10 years for each of 20 images - to be served consecutively for a total of 200 years without the possibility of probation, early release or pardon.

A couple of things:
1. What is with the rediculous sentences? 200 years wasn't enough, HAD to go for 340. The guy is 52 years old! I doubt he even has another 30 years in him.
2. This guy is sick, no doubt. But I think he should be "treated" with electroshock therapy, or something like that. In fact I would be more likely to throw him in a mental institution then jail. He may be fucked in the head but he didn't actually go out and molest any children (that we know of.) Jail should be reserved for the people who actually act on their fucked up urges.
If you ask me the US is ass backwards anyway. They put more emphasis on porn and drugs, and not enough on guns. The fact that police can walk into a house and be more concerned with a joint in the ashtray then they are with the "legally aquired" uzi on the wall seems messed up to me.
