It's been talked about everywhere...
but will a new HDD that takes more power and LEDs reduce your performance, or simply make the PSU get hotter? or both?

A 7200 RPM HDD affects the performance of the dvd drive. It's proven somewhere on xbox-linux but i doubt it's anything significant. As long as you get a hard drive that uses an ide cable and molex connection you should be ok.

I have a 7200 rpm hard drive, didn't notice any performance problems PSU problems and no problems with heat with stock fan and bios fan control.

I have a 7200RPM HDD and I had an xbox that has the original. The one with the original opens at the same speed, but responds quicker to when I push eject, about 2 seconds faster.
