I'm going to get my chameloen pretty soon, it's been mailed, but I am wondering how would I be able to disable xbox live from detecting this modchip in any form. Is there an external switch or what?

The soldering part looks harder than any other install!

I agree... doesn't that put the chip mighty close to the MB?? I think header pin will be the way to go for me.
One thing still not to clear... so it has to be in Mode 1 for the autoflash bank 1 feature to work.... So I guess you do that part with the XBOX opened, and then switch to the mode you want, because I want to keep it in Mode 4 personally. I assume that once you got a good EvoX flash, with the Chameleon features added, that you no longer need the Cromwell auto flasher. Still, it would be nice to switch modes without having to open the box up.
