THE OUTERLIMIT
Hi, I went all over the internet trying to find out what was wrong with my 360 disk drive and why it would constantly say "unplayable disc" so i finally figured out that the drive wasn't even spinning the discs. So i looked around and found a site that i could buy 360 drive's from (etech4sale). So i just got the drive last night, put it in today and i now get the "to play this disc, put it in an xbox 360 console" error. I was looking through a forum and saw that it said, and i quote "* If you have a Hitachi-LG drive Xbox360 and you managed to get a Toshiba-Samsung drive you can theoretically swap the drive in your Xbox 360 as long as you first retreive the unique DVD key from the firmware of your Hitachi-LG drive (mtkflash doesn't work with the Hitachi-LG, but there are other methods for this drive) and patch that key on the firmware of the Toshiba-Samsung drive. Brand of DVD doesn't matter, but if DVD key is wrong your Xbox 360 will not work." Now i have no clue how to flash but i do mod and i've obviously opened my 360 so i'm wondering if anyone can help me do this.

Thanks alot

1) First thing is to rpoduce a firmware with your key in. For that I hope you kept the key (or firmware ) of your hitachi. Then look at this tutorial on how to make your firmware with the proper key.

2) What version is the drive you bought ms25, ms28? it will change slightly the way and the equipment needed to flash your drive. The ms28 will for example will be much easier to flash if your SATA port are on a VIA chipset.

I will transfer you to a better forum for these discussions

1.Honestly i'm kind of a noob at the whole firmwire thing. I don't really know how to get my key but i still do have my hitachi drive.
2.Also, i really don't know how to tell if i have a ms25 or ms28.
3.I read the whole tutorial and it says to use one of the xtreme firmwire's, but i don't want it modded i just want the drive to work. Could i use the original firmwire from the TS-H943?

The firmware version will be on top of the drive. You will need to dump the hitachi firmware to get the key. Once you have the key you will also need to dump the samsung firmware so that you can insert the key into it and reflash. There is a program called Maximus' Firmware Toolbox V3.0 that will allow you to open your hitachi firmware, get the key, open your samsung firmware and then insert the key. You may also need to spoof your samsung as a hitachi. There's a tutorial over at 360mods.net that explains switching a hitachi with a samsung. Instead of using the xtreme firmware you would use your original firmware. Here

Would THIS Controller card do what I need it to do?

Is there no other way to Flash the Drive (Dump the Key)?

Will the Vt6421 card you mentioned only do the TS drive and not the Hitachi.

Im in the same boat as this guy. I need to extract (dump) my Hitachi so I can get the Key from it. I seen THIS CARD Mentioned in other posts but Im not sure if that one will flash the Hitachi and the TS.
