Ive got a v1.0 xbox.
SATA2 Seagate 320GB drive
SATA2IDE converter that plugs into the back of the HD

Will the xbox be able to read the drive?
DopeStrat
How do I test it to see if its xbox compatible? Will the slayers disc tell me if the HD is working or not?

Right, its not on that website...i checked it out before you posted the link. I doubt many people buy SATA 2 drives just to switch it over to IDE...but I got the drive as a gift, so instead of returning it i bought a converter.

if you have a chipped box any HDD will work.

a softmod will require a locking HDD.

Ive got a chipped box and I know the hd doesnt have to be locked. Are you sure it supports sata2 though?

is there a quick way to test it?

Not strictly true.
The SATA drive may not work. You would need the converter you talk of but even then it may not. When swapping drives you need to use IDE/EIDE drives. Even then some are not lockable

I have been trying to get my drive to work (exact same model as yours). It DOES lock, I've been using the ADSAIDE SATA to IDE adapter (which plugs right into the back of the drive). Fits well in the Xbox.

HOWEVER: After creating the drive, it ends up with an error 13 on the screen. The Xbox just won't boot up into my dash with the drive. I can't figure it out.
