hi folks,

i just got my psp-modchip and i am wondering what the copper-cables are for.
they are supplied with the chip but i think i should not solder them in unless i want to wrap up every single wire in some plastic or glue as they are without shielding.
does anybody know what they are for?
in the example-install-pdf for the UP i can't see them.
and every cable used in the example/reference install looks like a normal cable with plastic/shielding around it.
so i have no clue what they are for.
maybe someone can clear this up...

if you ask, why i want the chip:
my psp firmware is 3.10 or so as i just bought it from a friend.
and despite that, i wanted to train my soldering skills.

i'll post pics when i'm ready but i can't start before thursday when my new soldering station arrives.

I'm pretty sure that the wires that come with the UP have coating on them, it's just clear and hard to see. If you want to make sure, grab a multimeter and test throughout the lenght of the wire.

they obviously do have coating.

so, yesterday my new soldering station came, but i didn't have any time.
today i opened my psp and now i am pretty sure that i need a magnifying glass!
i will get one tomorrow and then i'm gonna mod...

although it's nothing new, i wanted to keep you updated.

As a tip, if you doubt your soldering skills, I'd recommend you don't install it youself since the install is relatively difficult.

trust me, the UP isnt something to play around with unless your soldering skills are high, especially since the risk factor is high. first try to improve your skills on an old modem from an old pc or something, solder some small wire to it and such. it will pay off, trust me. some people who have installed it have done it over a period of days (note that these guys who ive seen done it have degrees specifically aimed around this). so, if your gonna do it, take your time, its very easy to screw up.

don't install it youself since the install is bloody difficult.
