I did a few searches but couldn't find anything, so i'll ask,
is there anyway I can make back ups of my original xbox (xbox 1 ?) without having my xbox 360 connected to the PC and not using DL dvds?

Are you trying to play your Xbox1 backup games on your Xbox360? If you have the Samsung drive and have the latest firmware flashed, you can use SL discs to backup your Xbox1 games. For the hitachi, you still need to use DL discs.
You can install the Samsung 162C DVD-ROM drive into your PC and flash it with the latest Kreon software to backup your original Xbox1 games as well as Xbox360 games. This way you don't have to remove your 360 drive and connect it to your PC.
