i was playing a backup game on my modded 360, and it played just fine i shut it off and when i came back later it no longer played backup games but played regular games just fine and dvd's. so i guess my questions is, is there anyway that the firmware could revert to an older firnware or maybe it was flashed incorrectly? im new to this and i sent my box to a friend who does them all the time, he is just as confused about it as i am. any help would be greatly appricated. i am currently waiting on the stuff to do it myself

what did you use to make the backup? what type of media? etc.

what type of error do you get when you put a backup in? are you burning at 4x or slower? do you have the latest f/w version for your drive?

open tray errors are a some what common problem. There is a rubber band fix, and also the latest 5.2 for samsung drives is supposed to help prevent open tray. Do a search for rubber band fix if you are interested.

ok will do, mine is a hitatchi sorry forgot to mention that i think, im really thinking it reverted back or old firmware
damnifeelstupid
does this happen often or just a weird thing
Havok
There is no mechanism or way for it to revert to an old firmware....

Most likely you need to perform the rubberband fix...

jabroniekilla
yeah, an older f/w definately will NOT help.
Havok
The other thing that fails is the magnetic ring holding the disc down comes apart and gets stuck to the top of the metal case.

This would make all discs unplayable even originals..
damnifeelstupid
everything works fine EXCEPT backup copies.... all my originals play perfect just for some reason now anytime i put a backup in it will not play and it gives me those messages but ONLY with backups 98% of the time is says unplayable disc the other 2% says open tray

most likely your backups have turned to crap.
Havok
As I said search for the "rubberband fix" that should fix your problems..
