Until recently, my xbox has been running flawlessly with no problems. Currently the only application I can get to run is Avalaunch. When attempting to start an application either directly from the bios or from Avalaunch, the xbox shows drive activity and then defaults back to Avalaunch. I'd like to be able to run applications again, so I'm looking for a little expertise.
Avalaunch is currently the default dashboard, and always has been. When browsing through the file manager, I noticed that the Y: and Z: drives were displaying errors of the following types - err. 1117 (Y) and err. 3 (Z). After scouring the forums I'd come to the conclusion that these two partitions had become corrupted. I'd attempted to reformat the two partitions via ftp while Avalaunch was running using command line syntax 'site format y' (and z respectively). The Y partition seemed to right itself, but the Z partition still retains the err. 3 message after format.
Relevant system info:
Xbox Ver. 1.0
X3 w/X3 Config Live build 1943
Maxtor 250g Drive, 7 partitions with G disabled
I don't really have enough available drive space to back up all the information I currently have stored on this xbox, so finding a way to fix the Z partition by itself would be super handy. If anyone has any input on the subject, I'd really like to hear it.

I am having a similar problem. When I try to launch a backup (from disc) The game will begin to boot, and I have disc activity, but then it reverts back to Avalaunch...

Hey bakaris you need to do a couple of things. Beckerton this might also work for you not
sure what version you have for bios and dashboard.
1. You have a X3 w/X3 Config Live build 1943 - You need to update you Bios
to x3 Config Live build 3294 this is the last bios file they released for X3 chip
you can get the file from xbins
2. You are running a old version Avalaunch v0.49b3
You need to update to v0.49.3.142. To do this is very simple
you can go to xbins or you can update it online
run avalaunch goto settings then move all the way down to the bottom
and run update dashboard and you can download version 0.49.3.142
Now i'm not sure on how to fix your z drive.
If what i've told you above does not work then try this.
I had a problem like this where i put in my backup to boot
but then it would not and just boot to the avalaunch dashboard.
Turn off your xbox, turn it back on but this time hold down
the white button on the controller you will then boot into
Xecuter Config Live. Please Note this only works if you have a
x3 chip. Click on X3 Config Live setting, move down to the bottom then click on
Reset X3 Configuration to Defaults.
Then of course you will have to setup everything again. But after doing this
i was able to boot my backup again.
