Hello I dont know to much about this stuff but i had a guy install linux and stuff onto my Ps3 so i could play my backups. Now my problem is I have no clue what is installed on my ps3 on my 500 gig hd but when i go to the other OS on my ps3 it reboots and then brings me to a program with 2 penguins on the top left corner then it says this kboot thing and it asks me to enter a command ??? I have no clue what the command is to access the program to play my backups ?? If someone could help me I would really appreciate it !!

What backups are you trying to play from linux? Also would br handy if you knew what distro you have on there, if any as it wont go past the kboot prompt.

You can't play backups on the PS3 yet, the only reason you have a 500GB drive is to have more storage for music, photos and videos and stuff. He probably put the official Yellow Dog Linux on, or Gentoo or even Fedora.
When it gets to command you can type in startx after you login and it should load the user interface.
I believe to get back into the original PS3 GameOS you hold the Power Button down for about 5 seconds, I'm unsure on that because I don't have a PS3, but I'm fairly good with Linux.
Edit wait you can backup games to the hard drive in Linux but I forgot the command I know it's DD something but you can't play them at the moment because the security hasn't been breached yet.
