I have a TS drive flashed with Xtreme 5.2 firmware, and it appears to have been successful, but i'm having some issues with backed up games.

They load fine to the menus, but I have scattered read problems on them. I know there's nothing wrong with the backups themselves, because they've worked flawlessly at the points it screws up in a 360 with a flashed HL DVD drive.

This is what happens; In Lost Planet, I can load all of the missions fine except for the end of the second-to-last one and the entire last one. I get a blade pop-up saying I need to clean my disc. In Perfect Dark Zero, if I try to load anything other than the menu i get that error. (the retail discs loads fine.)

I've already restored and reflashed my firwmare to the same results, and i'm using the B version of the firmware. Any help would be appreciated. smile.gif

I have a release day box with an MS25 drive. It used to work fine, but started randomly having problems reading backups similar to the problem your having. I followed the guide posted somewhere here on tweaking the DVD pot. Fixed ALL of my reading problems. You might want to give that a try.
PureThermite
Thanks, i'll try that and see how it goes.
PureThermite
Well, I tried it, and everything from 4.5 to 2.8 didn't work. >_<

I even went so far as to try the rubber band mod mentioned, still nothing.

Maybe it's the read speed? The B firmware has it set to 4x for backups...

Guys I feel you go to hardware way too quicky, and many kill their drive instead of doing their backup properly. Not saying it is necessarily the case here.

Have you looked at
Diagnostic of some X360 DVD-ROM problems
in the Faq, Links & Important Threads .

If it loads backup and if original are working, it is not the firmware, plse read the pinned!!!

If the firmware is OK, then next step is to verify your backup
How have you done the backup?
-for ss.bin which software & drive
-for game.iso which software & drive
-how was it merged
-which software and drive to burn?
-Burn on which media at what speed?

Can you try them on another flashed x360?

likely not a FW issue, moved

yea i have the same problem with gears of war with the same drive but i pops up right away but the gow menu is runing behind the blade with no problems i also have latest fw and also fw b but my xbox1 backups boot fine
PureThermite
Well, I know that the backup is fine, because like I said, it works perfectly in a modded HL xbox 360.

To make the backups I used a samsung drive, used the enable0800iso, and ran Xbox Backup Creator to back it up. I then used the same program to burn them at 2.4x, and they are on memorex DL discs.

The only thing I can see left are to bunr them on verbatim (maybe the other drive was very performant)

if no go clean the lens,
if no go, replace laser (since you already tried the pot tweak).

Yeah, i'm going to order a 20 pack of verbatim DL discs. The only reason I used the memorex is because I got them for free. Although first i'm going to flash them with the full speed firmware, and see if that changes anything. I highly doubt there's anything physically wrong with the drive as it reads official games perfectly, but if it comes down to that i'll see what I can do.
sosotiit
Definitely, if you are using 4x reading, I would try 12x (even more on memorex)

yea im going to flash it with the d firmware to see if that makes a difference
Tech NeoN
yea i re flashed with no luck same error
PureThermite
Yep, 12x fixed all of my problems. biggrin.gif

I'm going to order the verbatim discs though, I want my games silent. wink.gif

And for some reason, I couldn't restore and flash with the same data on the usb drive... I would make a drive for the "a" firmware, restore mine to the original, and upgrade using the same drive, and it would still be on b for some reason. I had to restore it, then make a new one so it would actually put a different firmware on it.

You say you flashed with D ? I thought that that still is slow reading UNTIL you put in an original (makes it switch to fast reading).

yea
