I just tried playing an AVI from a DVD and it wont open, just before this I had fully watched a DVD Format movie and it was fine, the file/s I was trying to play were AVI files burned to DVD+R, I again tried playing the Movie that was in DVD format and it played fine but no AVI files would play. All my movies and backup games are burned to this media and they usualy work fine, the DVD drive is the Samsung model, I think its SDG 605, the label has gone as I have windowed the top of the drive but im assuming theres only one samsung model.

BTW, AVI files play fine of the HD, This problem used to occur when I would change disc with XBMC still viewing the previous discs files, I would need to restart the Xbox for the files to play again otherwise when I tried to open a file on the disc I would hear HD activity then nothing else would happen.

update -

The drive cannot read any discs burned in data format, it seems the drive is only reading media that would normaly be read in a stock Xbox, although backup games still work

thanks in advance

I have some help for you since it seems no one will help, or maybe noone can. Either way I ran into this problem only after I updated my XBMC install from the version I was originally using when I started soft modding. Any way the October 10th pimped version of XBMC will play AVI data discs. I have tried to update to a newer build 5 different times with the same result, everything works fine but AVI data discs will not play. I dont understand this but I think maybe the developers do not realize this has happened in the newer builds. I got my 2006 pimped version from torrentspy, but if you want to get it there, and you live in the USA you will have to use a proxy site since American users have been banned. But I hope this helps you out after such a long time with no answers.

good luck ~ Imre
