From gamesindustry.biz:
Following the publication of NPD figures which show a small rise in PlayStation 3 sales, SCEA has said the European launch of the console has constrained supplies in North America.
A statement issued by the company this morning notes that PS3 sales were by up by 2 per cent last month to reach 129,638 units.
However, SCEA added, "We continued to find ourselves supply constrained in March due primarily to the shift in manufacturing focus to the PS3 PAL version to support the launch of the system in Europe."
Agreed. I live in Houston and can verify that all local EB's/Gamestops (6 within 10 minutes) and BestBuy/Circuit City's(4 within 15 minutes) in my area all have stock.
I think the "Stocking" problem Sony is speaking of is how to get it OFF the stocking shelf not on it.

This is such bullshit, i live in the sf bay area and my local Costco has had a WALL of PS3's for months now. They must have 50 units there and since the PS3 wall appeared they have sold mabye 10. Phil needs to quit smokin that hooie.

i had to chuckle at this myself. hell there are ps3's available at the local minit marts and seven elevens. the only stock problems sony has is the warehouse full of them and no where to place newly arriving ones.

Remember back when everyone claimed Microsoft was making up a supply shortage to increase demand, but it turned out one their chip suppliers really did make bad chips and really DID constrain the supply?
Remember when Sony was knee-deep in stock and really DID totally make up a supply shortage?

That's funny..
How desperate can they be to blatantly twist the truth. Half of the PS3's on store shelves around minnesota have a inch of dust on them.

lol, i dont think they even sold out anywhere in the UK. I remember drunkenly going down one of our high streets on launch night and there must have been around 5 people outside each gaming shop. 5 people? popular huh
also look at the price difference between the UK and US prices at todays exchange rate
US Price $600 = £299.29
UK Price £420 = $841.97
