I softmod a lot of xboxes and have recently, maybe the last month, noticed that they are hanging with a black screen whenever I plug them in for the first time. If I boot using the eject button and go into the MSDASH and set the time, it will then boot fine until I unplug it to move it. Any ideas on this?

I use XBOXHDM and Ndure using the shortcuts to boot XBMC as the dash. I get through the flubber intro and the light will change to whatever color I set it to in XBMC, but I can't get ftp access. Thanks for any suggestions!

And I don't want to use an earlier version of XBMC because of all the great new skins!

This just goes to show how easy softmoding is..... rolleyes.gif

Unlike a home Computer, the xbox does not have a battery on the mainboard to keep the clock settings stored.
If the unit is unplugged for too long the remaining power in the capacitors will eventually run out and the system
will loose the clock settings.
The xbox is set to force a clock setting upon boot, a chip can bypass this though it may cause some problems.

As for the FTP Access, we need more info on your setup to determine the problem.
Check your network settings, make sure your using the right cable, and check to make sure your using
the right IP (Usually: 192.168.0.64) and username/password which should be xbox/xbox but not always.

It's not a problem with the networking. After I go into the MSDASH and set the time, everything including networking works fine. Without setting the time I get nothing though. I can't hit both thumbsticks to get anywhere or white and yellow? I'm perplexed. uhh.gif

Debug log shows nothing either? Would that mean it has something to do with NDURE?

On a stock system, if you disconnect the console from the mains for too long it loses the time. First thing it'll ask you to do when you power up again is to reset it.

A few softmods go haywire when the console tries to do this. Odds are your systems will do the same thing again if they lose power for too long.

The softmod pack I use ("Softmod Installer Deluxe v2.0" from XS Filter - Links to Xbox Warez and Torrents **) seems to be immune, though I generally only use this as a stepping stone towards flashing the TSOP.

Edit: What's this "XS Filter" stuff in my post? Something about links? The replaced text wasn't a link!... Eh, whatever.
