Important things to note:
-Developed by Ubisoft Montreal
-Exclusive to 360 and PC

The plot apparently deals with a threat from within Third Echelon, Sam quits and becomes a fugitive (for real this time) to battle it from the outside in. biggrin.gif

as long as it doesnt have any of those stupid HQ mission itl be great.
Raging Walrus
And as long as it's NOT for PS3 and as long they don't release games based on games that are ALREADY available for 360, knowing that this one won't help them make any money, then I'm down for this! I don't know if you guys know already, but Ken Kutaragi resigned from his job! I knew that bastard had to surrender to this awesome technology one day! pop.gif
Tripme
They had better do the mutiplayer right on this one. It was way overdone on Double Agent. Chaos Theory kicks the shit out of almost any multiplayer game I have ever played. Although all I ever played was deathmatch, the simplicity of it made it great.

As for singleplayer, I too hope there is none of that HQ crap. "Hey we gave you a bunch of missions, almost all of which are set in the same exact place!"

I have high hopes for Conviction.....
twistedsymphony
The original SC and Chaos Theory were made by the Montreal team

Pandora Tomorrow and Double Agent were done by Shanghai

I believe the DA on the X360 was Shangai and the DA on Xbox 1 was montreal (almost totally different game)

Twisted you made me a happy man on what was a loosy day so far, thks

happy to see it will be done by the team in montreal, and as Grim said no %?&$#%& Hq mission pleeease.

ive been trying to force my way through the 3rd one for some months now. they just ruin what was othrwise a perticularly good game.
Knasen
Seems I'm the only one that liked those HQ missions. Yes, it got a little boring after a while but I still think it made the "double agent" feeling alot better. Without those HQ missions the whole concept of being a double agent would have been reduced to zero imo. So while it was abit tedious on the last HQ mission I enjoyed them as whole and felt they really added realism and immersion to the game/story.

I think DO was the best splinter cell sofar *hides from all the bashing* tongue.gif
sosotiit
You have a good point on the fact that it made the double agent feel a bit more double biggrin.gif tongue.gif .

Strangely I preferred the Xbox 1 version of DA, but that is all a question of what you like. Is Red or blue nicer wink.gif .

Anyway, I am addicted to that style of game so I complain but will have bought the game 5 minutes after it is available.

yes, that's correct. I figured most people reading this would be familiar with the 360 version as opposed to the last gen console versions.

it's a shame Montreal didn't do the 360/PC and Shanghai didn't do the Xbox/PS2/GC.

did you ever play operation winback on the N64 (or ps2), that was one of my favourites.
twistedsymphony
Man I really need to finish Double Agent... I bought it on release day (got the limited edition too) and I've only played the first 3 or 4 missions... Gears of War ended up distracting me....

I need to get on the ball and finish it before Conviction comes out!
sosotiit
Still have my ps2, will try to find it biggrin.gif thks,

the LE sucked. It was in a plastic case with stuff that was available on the the internet before DA was out.

yeah it was pretty lame but I collect LE/SE games

I have a near complete collection of SE Xbox 1 releases and I'm only missing a few for the 360.

I was disappointed to find it was only a plastic case, especially considering the LE for Chaos Theory was one of the Nicest Xbox 1 LE cases

Ones I have:
COD2: Game of the Year Edition
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Collector's Edition
Enchanted Arms (launch edition expanded box and artbook)
Gears of War: Collectors Edition
Halo 3: Collectors Edition (Pre-ordered)
Halo 3: Legendary Edition (Pre-ordered)
Lost Planet: Collectors Edition
Perfect Dark Zero: Limited Edition
Prey: Limited Edition
Splinter Cell Double Agent: Limited Edition
Viva Pinata: (Launch Edition with bonus dvd)

Missing: - Most of these I'm waiting to pickup cheap
COD3: Gold Edition (Waiting for a price drop, probably this fall)
Madden07: Hall of Fame Edition (this will wind up in the bargain bin when 08 comes out)
Need for Speed Carbon Collectors Edition (again in the bargain bin when the next NFS comes out)
Rainbow Six Vegas: Limited Edition <-Regret not buying this one when I had the chance (it's hard to find)
WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2007: Gamestop Special Edition (I see these all the time, waiting for a low priced one in good condition)
grim_d
lame man

we never got special editions of enchanted arms, prey or RSV

QUOTE
- No more sneaking around in the shadows. Apparently you're going to be more like James Bond and infiltrate buildings in plain daylight. You won't have to use force or sneak around as long as you don't act suspiciously.

- According to the article, every single object that is rendered on screen has physical properties and most of them can be used by Sam. For example, Sam can pick up furniture and use it as a weapon, or throw printers at enemies or papers in the face of enemies to gain the upperhand in fights.

- Melee fights are much more than "press this button to hit" this time around. There's different context sensitive attack buttons and as mentioned before lots of environmental interaction.

- Some pretty negative comments about the PS3 made by the devs. They state the fact that they are exclusive to the 360 allows them to do much more than if they were multiplatform, but they also state they doubt they would be able to achieve what they're doing with the game on the 360 on the ps3 even if it was ps3 exclusive.

Those are the most important things in there. Ubi also claims the AI is really good and the magazine says the AI for example makes cover out of chairs and tables

I guess the platform still has some bite in it before it plateaus happy.gif .

I hear that. They are the reason I've given up on DA. I really should get around to finding a good tut or something, but it was just driving me nuts! Good news though, a new Tom Clancy/Ubisoft game always is.
ITALIANO
i like the " new idea" To use the phisics of object in game in real time for block door or create obstacles for sam enemies

well i gave up on the 3rd one.

but the other night i got a guide and jus rattled through that last couple missions, at least now i can buy the new one laugh.gif
Knasen
While I do like the sneaking gameplay in previous Splinter Cell games I felt it could need some new fresh ideas for the next sequel while playing DO and look, it seems that the developers have had kind of the same ideas.

Seems to be an interesting game, can't wait to play it smile.gif

I Loved Double Agent....

Completed and fully enjoyed the Single player and the multiplayer was an interesting twist....

However for the series it was deffinatly a step in the wrong direction,

Confused, allo wm eto explain...

The HQ missions where good, But becaus eit was such a new concept, many didnt like it.
with something new like that they need to ease it in for the vets of the series.

Shorter HQ missions would hav emade the game much better, (And differant places would have helped too)

Finally the multiplayer....
The new concept was amazing, But again, too much too soon.
If they'd used there heads everyone would hav ebeen happy.

But for Conviction, I feel the only change they need to make is this...

Spy Weaponary = On / Off

heh.. thats why i own both biggrin.gif

as far as the online, in comparison to DA.. i felt much more at home with chaos theory and the skill required to play it.

i will no doubt buy this, as i have almost every cell game to date except the ps2 version of DA.
sosotiit
Same here, only ps2 DA is missing smile.gif ,

talking about this, tempted me to redo X360 DA on hard which I had only done on another X360.
It remembered me the pain of the %$#%$ first mission and getting the 100% when getting to the silo.

anyway all done, up to knishasa now.

KAGE360
i cant wait for this game, much happier that montreal is behind this game. one thing im wondering is what engine the game runs on. i have actually read around the net that it's still using the UE2, i find that very hard to believe

Raging Walrus
I haven't even beaten the 2nd level in the first Splinter Cell. I need to start playing SC a lot!

I'm right there with ya. Hopefully the montreal team will be able to salvage the SC name with this installment.
sosotiit
agreed, but you also have to realize that montreal ubisoft has changed greatly.
It will be interesting to see, with their internal turmoil how good they will deliver.
-soso
Knasen
Looks interesting. Will be fun to see the final result, a bit of a change from the old splinter cell games.
darkmike57
Im sure that it wont be as fun to play as chaos theory, but it will end up being pretty decent since the idea is STILL based on stealth, but in a different way.

But i want CT Multiplayer!
