Hi,
I guess I see alot of topics about the WiiKey and how to install it. But How does one go about backing up their games? I dont see how to do that.

There is a method I have seen where you need an LG DVD-ROM and a program called Raw Dump.

I have not done it, as I do not own a compatible DVD-ROM nor a Drive Chip. The drives are ~$20 @ http://newegg.com though.

Edit: I also have never known anyone to do this, so to me it is still unverified if it even works.

I definitely read somewhere about being able to dump wii games to an SD card...

But, certain questions/comments come to my mind-

1- Wii games are huge..and the SD card slot only supports up to 2gb....

2- The "write" time would cause the process to take forever

3- Where the hell did I read this?

4- Sweet ass idea.

5- You'd definitely need like an 8gb..cuz most games are over 4gb..and yeah...8gb cards are pretty expensive

You can use a LG DVD Rom drive on your computer with Rawdump to backup your games. I dont remeber the model #'s, but there are 4 or so drives you can use, each about $20.

I have used this method and it works and its easy. Just hook the DVD drive to your computer, put your wii game in the LG drive, run rawdump and it will create an iso for you. Then simply burn the iso and put it in your modded wii to play.

Model numbers for LG Drives-

* LG-8164b
* LG-8163b
* LG-8162b
* LG-8161b

Edit-
Google "back up wii games". The 4th link is a good tutorial.

So its pretty much the same process as the 360? I was just wondering cause it seems everyone is talking about a WiiKey/modchip, but no one is talking about the actual process of how to use the WiiKey and or backup games...

Hey, the site you may have read the SD-Dump process is here http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=498...mp;#entry636238 I have my SD-GC Memory Card adaptor on order and I guess we'll see how the procedure fares in just a few, eh?

Ive read that it doesnt really work. So why would people want to put a modchip in their Wii if it doesnt do anything?

^ You can backup to a DVD. You can run Gamecube homebrew. You can import Wii and Gamecube games. There are many uses for a modchip.

I should say drivechip. There is no true modchip allowing Wii homebrew yet.

Edit: I have had a few people verify that Rawdump works. I will test for myself, when I get my tri-tip in.
