Yes I know there's threads with info about this, and I know theres a topic for people to post what worked for them, but it doesn't actually help me.

Back in December I flashed my xbox ms25 with 4.2a, burned my games on philips media, with a philips burner(can't really remember which burn speed)
But the fist discs already had that dirty disc error, and the laser made some cracking noise, I ignored this as I thought it would be fine, but now I get the Open Tray (tried rubber band) and a damn lot of dirty disc errors and Ive had problems with original discs, getting that white screen with "Put this disc into a Xbox 360 drive" or something like that (only with originals)

So I finally decided to buy verbatim 2.4x's and a pioneer 112D burner, which i've all got completely setup now, and now I want to reflash my drive with 5.3 ( I do not know if I need a b c or d)

My question's are:

-What's causing this white screen with originals?
-What would be the best speed to burn the verbatim's with? (1x,2.4x,4x,8x.)
-With what should I flash my drive? Speed wise like the default slow/silent or the always fast w/e? or is the slow etc only made for people that were annoyed by the 20 f16's flying over ur house when you play a game?
-With what burn program should I burn them games with? currently using imgburn..

thanks, I hope someone can help me, and make the perfect combo(burn speed, read speed) for me.

If it only happends on originals but not on the backups then I have no idea, sounds really strange.

There are different oppinions about this but in general, it can never hurt to burn in the slowest speed, thus
giving the laser most time to burn proper (deeper) holes in the disc, 2.4x is best for 360 backups imo.

I like to use a firmware with the option of changing speed. As I don't want the console to sound like an airoplane i use default slow and have the possibility to go faster if some game starts to stutter because of slow reading (almost never happends). Theoretically slower reading also should be better for reading backuped games as the drive has more time to interpret the data on the disc.

Imgburn is great, keep using it.

Yeah I only get that white screen with originals, with backups the xbox sometimes freezes, or it says unplayable disc, but I never got that white screen with backups.. it's this one:

anyone else might know what this causes, and thank you for the reply . smile.gif

check and make sure your clock on the 360 is set because that will sometimes cause this error to display.

if that is with original (and some disc are /were working so the key is good), I am tempted to think hardware:
clean laser -->> pot calibration -->> replace laser is the usual order

The clock has always been set.. so that's not it I guess
