I broke my PSU. I think I have a 1.6 xbox, but I am not positive. Is there a way I can tell without the serial # or the xbox being on? Also, would a 1.4 or 1.0 PSU work with a 1.6 XBOX? Thanks in advance for the information.

Yes, you can be fairly certain of your Xbox version by following this version detection guide, but to really be sure, I recommend following this guide.

No, not directly.

What did you do it it? I was installing it in a custom case, and when I plugged it in the PSU popped and smoked. Now it will not power on. I dunno if anything else is damaged, but the power would need to be fixed first.

I know this seems somewhat off topic, but since you can buy a working XBox1 from eBay for about $20 or $30, is it even worthwhile to go thru the trouble of fixing a PSU and/or MOBO?
