I apoligize if there is a simple answer too this but I would love some help as I have thoroughly read through all the forums and am stuck.

I have 78hitachi with the 360blaster and a VIA SATA card I used Toolbox3.1 and the new v1.7 flash. I have never connected my xbox to the internet for an update and have never flashed my drive until today. I used Slax2.1, everything worked fine, I flashed my 360 it works, it just will say unreadable disk after the game loads, whether it be original unscratched or a backup made using the kreon drive, pioneer 112d and verbatim dl media with xbox backup creator. I feel like I have follwed all guides and tutorials, I even reopened my 360 to check if it was 78fk again and then restored it to the original flash, then I reflashed it again following the tutorial that came with toolbox. I appreciate all the work that everyone has put into the different xbox programs and hardware everything is great I know it has taken alot of time and effort to create these wonderful easy to use products. I would just like to know if I am missing something and maybe there is a simple explanation as too why all the disks become unreadable after loading up, I even took it apart again to tweak the POT ever so slightly down. The box works just fine when the original firmware is in. Well If I forgot anything or made an ass out of myself let me no I won't be offended I just need some help and advice. THe 360 is barely used and I got it in January, I haven't had time to play it until now so I would be dissapointed if the laser was shot, but I would replace if necessary, but it works with the original flash so...anyways.

Thanks

Edit: Also I had the same problem unpacking the orignal toolbox post so I downloaded it on my mac and unzipped it there and then transfered it to my PC since my PC would unpack it properly so I do not have the repacked version. Again thanks

Get the repack (or even the original Maximus Toolbox 3.0) and do the decompressing on the PC. The Mac did not magically fix the corrupted archive, it just didn't correctly report the error.

Thank you very much, I'll try that now

I tried restoring and then flashing to v1.6 with toolbox3.0 still had the same problem and then I restored back to the original fw and it still sucks, not reading originals after it partially loads. I still have the same problem unpacking the repack, it gives me some error about header corruption, unexpected end of archive, and needing winrar5.4, which to Goolges knowledge does not exist. I rtied repairing it and then it will show the iles but they are still corrupt. Do I need a new laser or drive or what I am desperate here to get the 360 reading disks. I would appreciate any help I can get

Thanks

Email me a copy of your original firmware, and I will make sure the Toolbox is handling the patching
correctly, maybe it is a v78 we have not see so far.

When the original firmware is back in your box, is the original games still loading fine, with no delays
or freezing?

I have this problem as well, I have an 78fk with 1.6 on it. I read the tutorial on how to flash from start to begining. I restored it, then flashed with 1.7 and my drive started making clicking noises.

The first time I flashed it, it would read backups but not originals. Restored it checked key, tried again, and it still wasnt reading disc properly. So I checked back on the forums, found that some people had success building with 3.1 and flashing with 3.0, tried that and still didnt work out.

Dropped back to 1.6 and have no problems, it still makes the clicking noise, which it didn't before I flashed 1.7 onto it. Any ideas on what is going on, Gary I will pm you my f/w as well.

Hey Manfred,
Sorry to hear about your troubles I guess you've been unlucky ... sounds to me it's not flashing correctly if originals can't even be read.

One thing to check, when it prepares to flash how many sectors does it say it will flash? You should have between 8 and 12 otherwise you got a bad dump and the flashing will corrupt your firmware.

I hate to have to tell you that if you've restored to orig after trying 1.6 and you still can't read originals you may have screwed you drive. Your lucky you dumped it first then cause at least you got the key and can replace the drive with another ...

Well sounds like you got the man GaryOPA on the case so you got one of the best on your side ... smile.gif

Good Luck!
