Hi there,
This is my 1st post but i have used this forum for a while. I have recently purchased all the gear i need to backup my 360 games but for some reason i keep cranking out coasters (6 so far and getting expensive). Can anyone help me please to set me on the right track.
My equipment is the following:
Modded Xbox360 with Samsung Drive
Windows Vista
Samsung SH-D162C with Kreon .81 firmware
LG GSA-H42N duel layer burner
Schtrom 360Xtract 3.1
CloneCD 5.3.0.1
TDK 8.5GB 2.4 speed Duel Layer Discs
I have left all of the settings standard on all programs. I have read a lot of forums and cant seem to sort the problem.
Please help me!!!!

Are you burning your discs with the required layer break?

i use clonecd... with two files. one is the .dvd containing the layer break and the other is the image file itself.
open the program and you'll be presented with the four icons in a small rectangular box... click the second image("write from image file") so then another window pops up ("copy from image file to cd writer"), click the browse button and browse for the .dvd file which contains the layer break. the empty box on the side will fill up with some info, then click "next" at the bottom and burn

first moved in the backup section, it will be better.
for the time being run you samsung at 12x (fast speed), hoping it is not version B

.
Burn using IMGburn called by xbcreator, this way you are sure that all the right parameters are passed.
(
Tutorial: XBCreator & Imgburn )
you backup files are they passing the stealth test (image tool) in XBCr 2.5.
can you run a verification on one of your burn? (
How to verify a burn )
also try to get some verbatim.
if it does not work, you need to know where is the problem, find a friend that has a working setup. Bring your original and backup to test them on his X360. Bring one of his known working original and corresponding backup and test it on your x360. It will tell you if the problem is the DVD your are producing or your X360 Drive.
will start from there,

I think i can narrow down my problems to my burner... LG H42N. Everytime i change my booktype or bitsettings to DVD-ROM it seems to revert to DVD+R automatically for some reason.
Has anyone else experienced this problem too?

Is there a way of fixing this problem besides throwing the burner out of the window and getting a new one. I have wasted 9 discs now and it would have been cheaper to buy a new burner. Why does the LG do this?
Thanks

What do you mean by dowloading if you extracted??
what drive do you have in you x360 and which firmware on it?
booktype is not an issue with the latest x360 firmware.
you need to know where is the problem, find a friend that has a working setup. Bring your original and backup to test them on his X360. Bring one of his known working original and corresponding backup and test it on your x360. It will tell you if the problem is the DVD your are producing or your X360 Drive.

When you use img burn to burn make sure you have change the layer break setting to 1913760 otherwise no matter what you do the xbox360 will not read the disk.

Greetings! if all else fails, you can force the booktype on your DVD burner using NERO cd-DVD speed. once you burn that app. select EXTRA, then select BIT SETTING. you will then have the option to change the book type to DVD-ROM. so you will to change the new setting to DVD-ROM then click on "set as default" then press the set button... that would force the book type.
