its too much of a risk to 'test' if your console is banned or not, i unplugged my ethernet cable as soon as i heard about the bans so no idea if mine is banned or not.

Hopefully garyOPA will follow suit for us hitachi users....................... Not that im complaining, i am grateful for all their hard work as its something i could never do so keep it we have faith in both of you

But as avinitski said its too risky and i disconnected my wireless adapter after hearing of the bans though it had been like 2 weeks prior to that when i started my 360 as well, but ill wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to emerge and show us the way. Until then my 360 belongs to the dark side lol

isnt c4eva doing hitachi as well now. so hopefully he will release the fw for both sets of drives. i am still currently unbanned, but lots of people telling me to stay off live til this firmware is out. got to resist the urge to play gears of war tho

My 360 hasnt been switched on in about 45 days... but I'm scared to turn it on now! Mine was flashed after it had been online, and has been reflashed several times over the last 8 months or so.
The chances are I'm banned though - as it seems to be people whos consoles were flashed prior to being on live that are still unbanned.
I'll wait until there is a definate answer before venturing online again!

If you are banned, you are BANNED. Not turning your 360 on won't help you at all. I know someone who hasn't played his 360 since january, turned it on first time to see if he had been banned, and sure enough, banned. Even though he hasn't played for months.

Oh yes I m so excited. All of the masses of ive users are gonna smile today. Lets just hope this new firmware will stop ms from ruining our fun eh?

My theory

I have 2x machines

1x samsung ms25 flashed after being used on live, cant remember firmware used it was a while ago but got banned!!

1x hitachi flashed as soon as taken out of the box, it still works 100% till now.

It is also a good point for me to point out that I have transfered my hdd from the banned unit to the unbanned unit to use it on live. AND IT STILL WORKS 100%

I am quiet puzzled by this.

I am not going to update/roll back the firmware on my working on live console until there is hard proof. It just seems that to get hard proof will take down several 1000 more consoles.

My guess is he'll add a check for the DMI sector, if it's not present in your backup, it will not boot the disc.

Hopefully it won't be long before the firmware is released, no point asking how it works because for obvious reasons that information can't be released, otherwise Microsoft can just patch it and how pointless would it be then?

I also don't think C4E will disclose how this firmware will work or if it will work, I just hope he does a lot of testing prior to releasing the firmware. Some bans are still coming so we'll just have to wait and see what happens if you upgrade an already modded box to the new firmware.

My console has not yet been banned but should i still play my backups? Or will playing these add to a like log of what games i have been playing?(not on live just offline)

You could always buy a Samsung Drive....I know that Swaytech.org sells them and there are plenty more on Ebay.......Pretty cheap in Hong Kong as well...Thats where I got mine......

Then you had better forget it and just leave your 360 as is or flash back to orig, because there will *NEVER* be hard proof. You should know better. All of this stuff is a constant risk and if you cannot handle that, then get it's no place for you.

I'm gonna buy a new Xbox 360 Core system aswell, and leave it original until there's a 100% save way of modding it and playing on XBL.. Flashing your DVD-drive firmware obviously isn't, we learned that the hard way this week..

So for the time being I'll have a original Core system (I'll just put my old harddrive on there) for playing original games on XBL with my online friends, and I'll have a flashed and banned Premium which I'll use offline for playing "backups".. Plenty of games coming out that have no MP or where it's not important for me which I'll just play as "backup", so I'll save the extra 300 euro for that Core system pretty quick that way.. I'll probably go for the Viva Piniata Corepack btw, that has Viva Piniata and a 64MB memorycard in it (which I can use in my banned Premium, and for transfer of savegames etc between the 2 systems) for the same price of a normal Core system.. Good deal imho..

Can't you guys understand? There is no such thing as 100% safe. The sooner you understand that the better off you will be (either accepting the fact that you could be banned at any time or you stick with stock fw).

WOW havent been on this forum in sooo long. Finally got back on here since uhhh Sept of last year? Trying to firgure out whats up with 120G... and trying to get some information on that. Seen alot of topics, about MS banning everyone 360. So this morning, I just booted up my 360 to see if im banned or not. I start up Final Fantasy 11 "REAL Copy"... they asked for 360 updated.. I chose yes.. and I was able to log on. I have a Samsung TH943 ms25 firmware with xtreme 4.2 I'm hardly on XboxLive, I usually just play copy games when my friends is over, or use Silver Membership and play FFXI. Last time I really touch the Xbox360 is in December then turn it on about three weeks ago... to play NBA 2K7 for a an hour... without Live. Hope this information helps....

In xbox-scene news the last 2 weeks there are articles about the HACKERS that are meeting with MS security and telling them everything.... because they "feel" that is the "hackers" code. They even have a point man, that took another hacker to MS as a go between. So, the scene has changed. So watch your back.

In those threads, some were upset, but many were saying it's good that people go to MS and report everything. So, obviously things have changed in community, and we are mixing with 2 mind-sets.

C4eva keep up the good work We really do appreciate how many hours, weeks, months of your life you've dedicated to the scene

To the M$ staff snooping around in these forums why don't you spend as much time ensuring consoles are built to an acceptable standard & actually last without the red lights of death appearing after a short time instead of wasting your life trying to ban modded consoles. You may think you've won for now but we'll always remain one step ahead so spend more time researching the best solder to use when manufacturing rather than playing silly **** in here.

BRING ON Iextreme i say, and i for sure will be the first one to flash my new bought box, think we are giving up that easy, ha, no way ms, i have a bee in my bonet, and you know why? why is because i have backup up and used 2 copies of games in my box which i have purchased and have the reciepts for and i have been BANNED. This guys got it. I was fine up until this morning and whamo. It will get you people, the only people i reckon who will maybe (and this is a VERY VERY loose maybe) are the flash out of box people, but even then its iffy

What pisses me off if i only used orginals online ever, and wish somehow we ended up with that situation (like xbox1) again. Pirates don't fund gaming, thus why let them use live? I bought my games and would have loved to continued to use live. But i flashed, i know, i suck, i deserve it

My Speculation is when these hackers gave MS the insight on the Hypervisor hole, maybe they had to spill the entire beans on the full process in which they done it? Which of course the dvd fw hack would have been included. But thats just my opinion - it's probably wrong.

Don't you have to do the spring update in order to connect to LIVE and know if you're banned? Or can you know if you're banned without the update? Because in the case of anyone who hasn't connected in a while, maybe they get banned upon the update and subsequent restart.

i wonder if anyone paid attention to that statement, enjoy the YEAR of fun you had it sounds to me that its suggesting that what ever the reason was/is it was not planted now (spring update, halo3 etc etc) but MS has been on it for a year now and they just choose the time for halo3 beta / spring release to start banning so people get confused and don't look at the actual cause which was planted long time back ...
