i had temporary turned off my softmod using Krayzie Ndure mechassult save version 1 on my xbox version 1.6 and put xbox live trial on it ut when i tried to put the softmod back on the run linux save no longer worked... can anyone help.

uhm, you need to have the softmod on there, you probably deleted one of the needed files. Get the memory card you used to softmod it with, re-copy over the gamesaves, then run SC/ME/AUF (whichever you used and whichever goes with the save you used).

Do you have to downgrade the M$ dash too? Maybe live did something to it...

Nope, NDURE actually requires at least M$ dash 5960 (which is the newest one AFAIK), it refuses to do the full install if you don't have it. Also, if you're using NDURE you can set up a dual boot between retail and modded for Xbox Live purposes (although it's not necessary, as long as you coldboot your games you will be able to go on Live, by default the LED is green when the box is unmodded and can use Live and yellow when it's modded and you can't).
