Just as the title states...I don't want to pay $100 for the MS Adapter, what's the most inexpensive alternative that will still allow me to hook up wirelessly to the internet?
Thanks!
(Sorry if this is the wrong forum...lots of options!)

a wirless eithernet bridge might work but a good one cost about $100 so you might as well buy the offical one.

I have a Squeeze Box for my music that has "wireless bridge" function & I just checked that it works with 360 plugged on secondary side--I.E. the squeezy does the connection to router (wirelessly) with a cable to the 360.
The cable needs to be crossover type.

I think most people forget the official adapter is wireless A/B/G so that is why it is $100. I'm sure if you search about you can find answers to your questions.

I searched...
Then you would know that no other usb device will work.
Any wireless bridge or router with bridging ability will function. Even the old MN-740 for the xbox1 will work fine, and can be found on discount websites for under $20. If you have multiple units that need network access in your entertainment center, you cant beat a Linksys Wrt54g/gs with reflashed firmware to make an excellent multi unit bridge.

I use a Belkin Wireless ethernet bridge with my 360, plugged directly into it's ethernet socket. Not being USB powered it uses it's own PSU, but that's no drawback.
I switched to an ethernet bridge because the 360 wireless adaptor claims in the instruction manual that it can handle WPA2 encryption. It can't. It does WPA or WEP only. My Belkin router does WPA2 or mixed WPA/WPA2, the 360 adaptor does not allow a mix of WPA/WPA2 so it would only work in WEP with my router (also Belkin).
I took it back to Game, and asked for a refund because of the instruction manaul incorrectly claiming it would do WPA2. The dork behind the counter wouldn't give me a refund because he said it didn't state WPA2 on the box (even though it did in the manual). This printing mistake was stated on the official 360 website but he still wouldn't do it. 1 hour later after talking to his manager and spending 40 minutes on the phone to Microsoft (some bloke with very poor English), they agreed the refund. Needless to say I don't shop at Game anymore!
Anyway, the Belkin bridge works a treat for both my Live connection and Vista Media Center and was £20 cheaper than the offical M$ one!

I recently moved into a new house that had no network wiring. After doing some research I bought the
LINKSYS WRT54GL. You can flash the firmware (
DD-WRT) which will let you turn it into a wireless bridge among other things.
This is what I did and now I have a wireless bridge, that supports a/b/g, with 4 ports for my various consoles for $60.

I did the same thing, though I am using the Buffalo WHR-G54S. Internally it's the same hardware as the linksys, fully flashable with DD-WRT. Circuit City is selling these right now for $29.99 after MIR.
