I bought some DVD-R DL's and I burned one of my backups on it, haven't tested it yet however. Does anyone know if they work? I know +R's will work but I've got this -R DL disc burned already and I can't test it yet. I tried searching but it didn't work for some reason.

Afraid that you are SOL. DL DVD+R are the only format that currently work on the hitachi drives. The latest firmware flashes are supposed to make DL DVD-R compatible with the Samsung drives though.

That's too bad . Good thing I didn't spend too much on them. I'll just hold out and grab some verbatim +r's.

Since you have already burned a disc, you can give it a try, but I have yet to hear of ANYONE getting a DL DVD-R disc to work on the Hitachi drives.

I'll try it when I get the chance and post my results, but I've gotta wait for my piece to arrive in the mail. Could be tomorrow, saturday, next week...
