After being disappointed with the lack of a campaign in Shadowrun, I picked up Call Of Juarez. Seems pretty good so far, I am about halfway done the single player. If anyone liked Red Dead Revolver, you'll like this game. There are a few clumsy parts, but overall the controls are decent. Anyone else played it?
Thoughts?

i knida like it, its a little refreshing among all the other shooters. the wild west is great. the only part i dont like is the sneaking as billy. the reverend is cool. this kicks guns ass, although its not so much as a sandbox, its more linear.

gun had the sandbox world (ala GTA) this is more linear its not really an open world. you play as two plot characters. the grahpics are good IMO, no framerate drop. when your guns are holstered and you hit the trigger it puts you in slow-mo with two crosshairs, and you have till they merge to shoot all you can. the story so far is good, i know gun had a good story but crapped execution. i dont think you ride horses either, which was a big role in gun to get around in the world. im not to sure if its buy worthy, as i havent got very far yet.

I enjoyed GUN a lot, even though it was technically mediocre. I'll probably get Call of Juarez once it's cheaper since my 360 is 3-ring'd right now and by the time I get it back I'll have The Darkness.

Agreed, GUN was decent, but lacking in so many ways. This seems like the type of game that GUN tried to be, but failed. There are a few parts that are little bit difficult (control wise, not skill) like swinging over a gap with the whip on the first level, and jumping a gap with the horse on the 8th? level. The graphics are great, a nice effect with the focusing vision when sighting down your gun. The bow is very cool, driving an arrow into a guys ear always makes me smile.

I'm not a huge fan of the sneaking sections, but they arent too difficult after a few tries. I bought the game, and would reccomend it to anyone who likes the western genre. I plan on writing a full review when I have completed everything and played a bunch of multiplayer.
What other game lets you hold a bible in one hand while sinking hot lead into someones chest with the other?
Nuff said.

Okay.. so better then Gun according to the people that play it for awhile?? There are so many first person shooters.. (which is not my favorite genre).. I tend to play for a bit and then get bored.
Played Prey and the box corrupted my savegame half way through...
Played Gun about half way through...
Played F.E.A.R. (that I was enjoying) but I got stuck halfway...
Personally I am waiting for the new adventures/RPG's to come out.

I agree with the previous posters about the sneaking parts, they do suck somtimes. The swinging with the whip its a bitch sometimes but nothing too bad. Overall I think the graphics are great, Multiplayer is pretty good, but then again I havn't played it that much yet. I really love the wild west theme. Its really refreshing in this genre because everything else has been done to death, revived, and killed again. I am only on act 3 right now though so this is just a first impression opinion. I dont think its going to replace GOW or anything like that for me, but its deffinatly different from the rest of the 360 shooters.

I just spent the last couple of hours playing and I'm loving it except some parts like having to climb mount Eagle. So far I'm at episode 11 and I'm still lost for the last hour

My initial impression of this game was kind of a big dissapointment (mostly beause the controls ,using the whip sucks) but after I've played a few more hours I actually changed my mind, this game grows on you and gets better and better imo. Too bad the awkward swinging and the first levels were kind of boring, as that will probably scare away many people from this game.
If you have the patience to pass those first 2-3 missions then you will come to the more funny levels and this is where the game shines.
