I have been having some problems burning an 360 ISO image.

First of all I have made backups many times before and never had any problems from my laptop using Windows Vista. Recently I reinstalled Vista as I usually do a format every 6 months and it was about time, on top of that I upgraded to Xtreme 1.0 recently. This is all that had changed.

Recently I got a copy of Forza 2 and went through the normal process and the game burned successfully, however when I put it in my 360 it came up with Open Tray every time I tried to boot it after making a horrible sound. I thought it may be some thing to do with the new firmware or the discs but all my other stealth made backups worked perfectly still and some were burned on the same type of disc. I decided to reburn with CloneCD instead of IMGBurn and the exact same thing happened again. I then decided to try burning on a different PC, this time a desktop running Windows XP Home. I used CloneCD and when I put it in my 360 it booted first time.

Now I went back to check the original discs that were burned in my laptop that were not working, using XDVD Mulleter. The program took a long time to load the disc in XDVD and when it finally did it would say 'file handle not found' or that 'it was not a 360 ISO or the offset was wrong'. The copy burned in the XP Desktop loaded like normal with all the stealth options checked, etc.

I then tried an old ISO I had saved on a portable HDD that definately did burn perfectly in the past on my Vista laptop before the reinstallation but after burning the same thing happned with the game not being recognised by XDVD Mulleter or my 360 as a game, although like with all the other faulty burns the laptop does read the disc with the correct label and data on it just it is not read as a 360 game in XDVD Mullter. It seems as though the laptop is burning th 360 ISOs too close to the centre of the disc which is not allowing them to be read as 360 games.

ATTENTION chorizo1: the games were all made on my friends XP machine using Xtreme 4.2 firmware and the 0800 disc, as he has more experience with 360 backups and I always know they are done right, I do not have the exact specifics right now as I am in Spain for the rest of the summer and he is back in the UK. However I had never had any problems until we attempted to make a copy of my Forza 2. And now I cannot seem to burn any of my old ISOs either, ones that definately worked in the laptop in the past. Therefore the backup creation method has nothing do with my problm at hand. If this is the wrong forum can you please move it to the right one as this is driving me insane trying to figure out.

Anyone have any ideas as to why my laptop burner is no longer burnining the ISOs correctly given this information, I am confused completely?

I have just tried burning a audio cd and it loaded fine in my 360. I am going to go purchase a pack of dvdrs tomorrow and try backing up a movie of mine to see whether the 360 reads that fine, then I will do the same with a dual layer disc to see whether it is only 360 ISOs that are being burned incorrectly.
