I have a previously softmodded xbox with error 16.

I have no access to any other xbox to fix by swapping the HD

If I buy a chip and install it, and then use a slayer disc, will that fix my problem?

am I missing anything?

I am thinking of getting the Xecuter 3

Thanks!

That should fix your problem.

Thanks,

So I re-read the error 16 fix, and found this:

So what do you do about it? Two options!

1. There are some bios'es around that allow the chip to boot past the clocksetting. (do a search!). So how do you get that bios on your chip because you cant boot to a flash program or something? Well you need to have an external flasher.

It seems the m8 bios will take care for you of booting past the clocksetting. Or use the latest Xecutor bios

I will order the chip and give it a try *crossing fingers*

Avalaunch and unleashx both have the ability to give a fake date and time for xbox really has nothing to do with bios I have unplugged my xbox for weeks and boot avalaunch and it will fix any clock loop error. I have a chip last x2 bios but it also works on softmods to.

no it won't. it works for you because the chip bios allows it to boot without the clock set, softmods boot AFTER the clock check, so it goes to the error BEFORE you can do (boot) anything.

you need to:

1) chip it

2) hotswap and use XboxHDM to fix

3) you have your eeprom.bin, use XboxHDM to fix

Alright, basically what I figured I hgad to do from reading tutorials and forums,

One more question:

can you explain "eeprom.bin"

all the tuts say to copy my xbox eeprom.bin and I am unclear where I get it?

If you fit the chip and use Slayers there is an option called backup.
Run this and it makes a folder called backup on your HDD. this contains the eeprom file.
You should really ftp this to a folder on your PC at some point then you have a backup of the eeprom.
It is not absolutely essential as you have a chip.
