I'm not sure whats wrong, but this is my setup using static ips:

PC:
IP 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
DNS 192.168.1.1

Xbox:
IP 192.168.1.101
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
DNS 192.168.1.1

then turn off pasv in smartftp and ftp to the xbox ip.

you cant directly connect ur laptop to the xbox you need to either use 2 network cards, a router or a hub switch. So do one of the following and you will be able to connect.

That is an outright lie.

you can absolutely connect directly between two hosts as long as you are using a crossover cable, which you are.

I find it a little odd that you're using a public address in the log of your ftp client.

if you're still having issues, please post your entire output of 'ipconfig /all' from your pc as well as the ip address, netmask, and gateway of the xbox.
