I bought a used Xbox from GameStop, brought it home and after playing with it for a few minutes, soft modded it with the Kerrazy installer and I'm using Unleash X for my dash. I put DVD2Xbox on it and under the LCD settings it says I have a SmartXX modchip. Is there a way without opening the case up to find out what chip I have? The LCD was listed as LCD-ks0073 but I don't see any LCD on the panel and it has never booted to anything but the default MS or the Unleash X dash.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try bioschecker or what ever it's called, but other than that open the case. It's prob out of warranty now anyway if it's used.

You have no chip in your xbox you said you got it from gamestop. But to be sure open her up and check use torx 10 or 20 i forget and see if a chip is over the left lpc if not put a chip in if so load a dash and enjoy LATER-XLORDX.

Highly unlikely that you have chip.
Rather than post your question, why didn't you just open the xbox and find out?

You see SmartXX because that's just the default LCD setting.
I've seen it numerous times under XBMC with softmodded and chipped xboxes.
I rarely ever use LCD's (or XLCD's), but my LCD settings are always displaying that I have a SmartXX LCD installed.

Change the setting to reflect an XLCD if you want. . . it still won't change the fact you don't have an LCD installed.
