When playing the movie (CD) directly from the DVDROM , I get some stuttering almost like tiny pauses at different places with in the movie.

I have tried to play around with the advanced settings in XBMP i.e fps and other options and no luck.

The XBMP was installed on a freshly formatted XBOX with Slayer 2.1.

I know that I was able to play movies directly from the dvdrom with no problem but this stuttering is driving me nuts.

Could this be a codec problem ? I thought the codec in 2.4 was the most uptodate one.

Can any one please help as I have tried everything I could think of but no luck.

Any suggestion is appreciated. sad.gif

Hey,

Did you try with more cache in config.xml?

Like this:

<name>DVDROM (UDF)</name>
<url>d:</url>
<cachesize>16384</cachesize>

Donno if those settings will work, since i never use my dvdrom ;o)

You can get the file via ftp to the xbox, and edit it with wordpad (or notepad)

Tried the increase cache and unfortuneatly no go ! Wish I knew what the problem was maybe the dvdrom is acting up. Seems the drive is choking It was all OK until the upgrade to 2.4 and now the downgrade to 2.3 does not even work. Stuttering all over the place. sad.gif huh.gif

could your stuttering be a result of playing back ntsc material on a box set to pal?

i got the stuttering as well, it happens for me on parts of a movie where lots of action is going on, I also tried the same movie parts but from the actual hdd and it did not stutter, so its the cd or something.

even with a fairly large cache the dvd rom drive will never be as quick as the hd (its the same on a pc). so just copy from cd to hd using some software like boxplorer or ftp the file across. also cdr's are always going to be slot - use a dvd-r/w if possible - or at least a cdrw which should run quicker.
it is possible that as your xbox ages - the drives may become less efficient at playing back cdr's - i think mine did that wit some software

I have the exact same thing. When playing from computer via RelaX, the problem is smaller but with cdr's its really annoying. I wish there was a solution to this problem.
