I'm not exactly sure where I should post this, but here it goes... So I'm on my third system, and I've been going fine for about a year or so with it, and roughly 7 months ago I got my firmware modded as to play burnt games. Absolutely no problems... all of a sudden that big dashboard update comes down in May, and my system starts freezing mid game... It doesn't even matter if it's a burnt game or a retail game. I sent my system out twice for repair through futureshop, where I originally purchased it. It came back the second time and all was going good. I can play burnt games absolutely fine. I put in the Darkness to try it out and roughly 4 minutes in, it freezes. I try guitar hero II... it also freezes. Same deal with Command and Conquer 3. Right now the only game that plays in it without having frozen is Forza... I have absolutely no idea what the hell is wrong with my system. There are no red lights, it doesn't seem to be a heating issue... If anyone out there can please help me, and possibly diagnose this disaster of a problem, that would be much appreciated. sounds like its overheating, but locking up before an error code.

You say it isn't a heating issue,but does the 360 seem to be a bit too warm to the touch?If it isn't warm then it isn't a heating issue that you have maybe it is the flash on your drive that isn't good.You maybe want to try too reset it back too the original state and then reflash the drive.

Just my 2 cents. I was getting lock-ups and tried every cooling mod and my system was super cool. Still lock-ups. I reverted to firmware 3.2 (MS25) as that had less bells and whistles of the previous 5.2 I had problems with.
Also have a play with your media types. I found that the lock-ups were fewer with original and verbatim media.

If you can play this one game without freeze up then it not hardware related.

FUBAR
