ANOTHER STUPID QUESTION FROM ME...HIHIHI

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE HDD WHEN YOU DISABLE THE MOD.
ISN'T THE ORIGINAL BIOS SUPPOSED ONLY TO RECONGNIZE THE ORIGINAL HDD?
SCENARIO...I HAVE INSTALLED PC-BIOXX AND AN 80GIG HDD...
ALL MY GAMES ARE ON THE HDD...
I WANT TO PLAY XBOX LIVE SO I DISABLE MY MOD...
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE HARD DRIVE?

THANKS GUYS....
STUPID CANADIAN
Dark Schneider
Disable your caps and you'll find out sooner. wink.gif
NIGHTBREED
CAN'T...KEYBOARD STUCK...
MrEs
actually that's not a bad question
DaCxKasD
Buy a new keyboard then stupid canadian will answer
NIGHTBREED
man you would think that every reply was made by a girl, are you guys that sensitive!!!

NIGHTBREED
as you can see, i went i bought myself a new Canadian keyboard at a Canadian store, i would like to remind you US folks that we have real beer up here...
hahahaha
Dark Schneider
Yeh you need that REAL beer to get you drunk enough to get in bed with those women up there ehhh?

Anyway if you disable the mod, a little man with a stick will come out of the DVD drive and whack you in the ballz repeatedly until you submit to a rectal exam with a pineapple! ohmy.gif

You can diable your mod, but you will not be able to access the files on the F:\ drive since the partition is not supported by the original bios. You can still play your originals and such off a disc, but no "backups" will be able to play, nor will you be able to play any of the games off the HDD.

Basically it will revert to the original Xbox with all the standard features.

DaCxKasD
I would just like to point out that here, In Montreal we dont have to get drunk to get girls cause they already to that very well, and they are very beautiful. Cant say the same shit about Ontario. Their bars close at 2 am ewww.

and P.S. Molson comes from Quebec and we pee in the bottles heading to the rest of the Canada. Now you know what we call Quebec's fine touch....
MrEs
so i take it that this means you can save you game either? (to the hdd)?!
DaCxKasD
My guess is that since you first created an image of the original xbox HD and transferred it to the bigger HD, after disabling the mod, the xbox sees no difference between the old xbox HD and the new one because all the partitions and data it sees match ( be sure to have the original xboxdash.xbe and not the evoxdash renamed to it)
atomon
i was wondering the same thing. i have the same scenario. pc-bioxx with a 80 GB HD. i didnt install the chip yet so i cant test it out. i figured it just would not utilize the extra space on f: but in some threads people are telling me i have to swap the drive. i will have my mod chip installed in a week or 2 and i kinda wanna know first.
opjose
I guess everyone is forgetting here, that when you disable the mod, the original bios will not be able to unlock the new hard drive and will report an error.

Of course even if this worked, Evol-X would not run.

What I wanna know is, the new HDLock proceedure is supposed to LOCK DOWN a new drive to be compatible with the original BIOS.

Ok fine, but isn't the unlock code for the drive burned into the eeprom. As a result disabling the mod, even with a locked drive, will still cause it to fail.

Dark Schneider
Sorry missed the point that they were not using their original HDD. ooops
s_lipowitz
The way I understand it, is that the unlock code from the origional HD/Bios is retreived. Then, using the same code, the "new" drive is locked. Any drive supporting locking can be set with whatever code you want. MS just used certain variables to establish the origional code.

I could be wrong though...

Sorry, but this got me very interested in this now, as I am going to be putting in a new hdd sooner or later, well at least before live comes out. So, from what I know right now, it is possible to lock the new bigger hdd's that you put into you xbox. But for the average user who doesn't know enough about the code xbox uses(me) and wants to lock their hdd, it's impossible. I think someone should release a program for the users around, to lock the hdd after partioning it and putting it in the xbox. Is this a possbility?? This would be cool, because otherwise, their is really no point in having a switch on you mod, because when you switch your mod off and fire you xbox up, it will not run properly. I mean that is for people that upgrade their hdd. And I know at least I have changed my origanal dash to evolution-x. So here is what I'm think we need to pass the xbox live checks, well at least, if they only have a modchip check and not a hdd check. We need to have someone make a program that locks new and bigger hdd drives, change back the dashboard to original, and then you would have to have a mod chip switch. but even then I guess we couldn't play xbox live backups, because you can't run unsigned code. So for everyone that doesn't pay for games will have to be choosy of what live games you would buy. But even if the senorio I have said and has already been talked about works, well what stops m$ from trying to check you hdd for unsigned code. there are to many possiblities that could happen. I guess we will have to wait to see, but if it's impossible to run a mod chip and bigger hdd on the xbox live service. I have a backup plan, which I thought of the other day, I'm sure someelse said the same thing. But I will have to make a external bay that you can easily change the hard drives with. Which will make it able to change between you origanal hdd and your newer and bigger hdd. This way you can disable you mod and change back to the original, untouched drive, thus no evidence of any tamper with the xbox, if they do check. Well anyone got any coments or suggestion on this issue please, reply. Thanks, and sorry making my post so long, for those of you that actually read it.

What we seem to be looking here is someone that has MODed their XBOX with EVOX-2.4 and up try it.
We need to disable the MOD and then put an original CD.
Maybe just by selecting the MS Dashboard it will work?
Need to make sure we can save games to HDD...

guys the reason i'm asking this is because i'm still waiting for my MOD chip to arrive...
Now my status for the XODUS is accpeted...hopefully it will ship today or tomorrow...

When you change your HD it'll work fine with a hacked BIOS, I used evox 2.5.
When you boot to the original BIOS (assuming you can solder points 9&10) the xbox won't boot up. It flashes up the "your xbox needs servicing" message.
So putting a CD in won't get you anywhere as it doesn't get that far.

He said he was getting a xodus, which is the no solder mod, which does not have solder points 9 and 10. Well as for what he said, you are not goint to get you xbox to wether or not you have you mod enable or disabled, I mean that is if you have a bigger hdd. This is because your hdd is unlocked and will not be accepted with the origanal bios. So you really need to lock your bigger hdd, and there is a way of doing this now. But it's complicated and will most likely elude you, well at least me. So what I am asking here is "there a way somone can make a program or patch or something to lock a bigger hdd, with out having to do a bunch of technical crap". IF SO PLEASE DO MAKE A PROGRAM.

laugh.gif You are "wrong" of course.

The hard disk's unlock code is serialized both to the drive and the Xbox. This means that you CANNOT use another hard drive just by giving it the same lock code.

Rather you must install the new drive on the already modded Xbox, run evolution-X, get the new serial for the new drive via the "backup" command.

Pull the drive from the Xbox, then lock it on a PC which can lock drives (not all can) using the serial generated by Evolution-X.

After you have done this, the Xbox believes that this new drive is a "native" one. I just tried this on two machines, works fine, even with the original ROMS and dashboard.

Thank you for you answer, I went back and got the hdlock program and ready the thread on it again and figured it out. But I'm not going to do it untill it's neccesary or I get really bored.

Well he is contradicting himself then because in another post in this thread several posts before this, he says

So I guess we were both wrong and he is either got 2 xbox's or he was just telling stories in the beggining. Who knows, oh well, I found out what I needed to know anyways. biggrin.gif

Guys have you ever heard of HOCKED ON PHONICS...
i used the term scenario because it is a scenario and if i had put XODUS instead of PC-BIOXX, a shitload of you guys would have asked me if i really had the MOD.

Wow ramble on!

Yes there is a tool to LOCK your drive after you have prepared it.

Yes it's pretty easy to use.

It requires you to pull your already working larger drive from the Xbox and install it in a PC with the right chipset/bios. From there you can lock the drive with the serial number generated by Evolution-X when the drive was in the "target" xbox.

After you have locked your drive, you can put it back in the Xbox and restore the original dash. Then you can switch OFF the mod chip.

I just did this on two machines, with 120gig drives, and the mod chips turned off. The Xbox thinks it's a native drive now.

This permits me to use XBLive (retail) without worry, with the original dash. The dash will get updated by the retail install. Afterwards I can switch back to evolution and save the update dashboard.

opjose -- ahhh yes you are correct, thanks for the clarification. I was looking through a walkthrough, and misread "box" to be the computer instead of the xbox as it really ment.

What chipset/bios do you need? Is there a tutorial for locking the drive? Thanks!
opjose
At the momemnt the CHIPSET/BIOS combination on the motherboards is unknown. You'll have to try and see.

I had nothing but failures on Intel 815e motherboards. The 440bx worked perfectly with the same drives and boot disks, go figure.

The errant motherboards reported the drives as already frozen and the unlock/master password commands report "drive reject command".

Bottom line, if you can't lock the drive, try another motherboard.
