The past two games (Superman and Hour of Victory) I've tried to backup with v2.5 XBC have caused my PC to freeze. I bought the suggested SH-D162C Kreon .81 drive last week and have backed up 5 games no problem so far. After inserting game in the drive XBC freezes (among other running programs) and the drive just makes repeating noises and the game never loads. I don't want to believe that the drive I just bought has crapped on me so soon especially after no problems or trauma. Are the games themselves just encypted or something so that XBC can't read them? Any suggestions?

It could be the laser on the drive , also don't be running any other program in the background whilst ripping (Media players , autorun and AnyDVD)

I just did, same error loading the game. Are these drives known the fall apart after 5 uses?

kreon drive set as primary IDE channel, as master?
DMA enabled on that IDE channel?

memory in PC, speed of PC?

I'm a bit of a newb so I'm not sure about the drive. My PC is running on Pent 4 3GHz, 1GB ram.
The error Schtrom tells me immediately is "MyGetAltPhysicalFormatInformation failed!"

ive read that they like to be set as master, on the primary IDE channel.

if you can look at your mobo, it should say IDE 0 and IDE 1, you want the lower value. and on that channel, the drive should be set as master.

im not saying this is your problem for sure, but its a place to start i suppose.

edit: if you dont know what you are doing, dont go tearing your PC apart, as you may not get your hard drives to recognize if you start swapping cables.
