I've searched vigorously for the combinations of words I thought would help me get this answer, but the only thing I could find was someone suggesting you "poke around the hdd" to find evidence of an old XBL account.

Where would I look on the hdd to find out if it had ever signed on to XBL? Would it have a date stamp on the files and let me know when he last signed on?

I just bought a used XBOX, unmodded, and want to know whether I can upgrade the HDD to a huge disk before I sign on to XBL for (what may be) the first time.

Hmm, that's a good question, your best bet would be to see if there's any downloadable content on it.

If they straight up erased everything I'm not sure what you could check.

So basicallly, If I can't find any content on it or if they erased it, I just have to gamble? Upgrade the hard drive, connect, and hope it hasn't been tagged already?
