Is it easier for me to buy a new drive for my laptop or should I just go out and buy a pioneer 112 and an enclosure? Anyone else out there have any luck burning backups on a laptop? My desktop had a 111d pioneer drive and worked great but I have had no luck on this laptop. The first laptop I got had a TSST Corp TS-L632D drive in it and it worked good but I had to take it back and this one has a different drive which will not work. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

most burner will do, if they do DL. Only way to 100% confirm a burner or an enclosure is to test it.

But how will you rip anyway? if you have a laptop.

I should be able to rip my games with whatever drive I get to burn with. Like I said my other drive burned one of my game images just fine. But I have had no luck with this drive. I am not saying it is not capable, I am just saying I could not get it to work. Imageburn would not even recognize the drive. The other laptop drive it recognized as a samsung and it worked. I am almost sure the other drive bitset to DVD ROM and this one will not.

Just wondering what other people are getting to work on thier laptops. Just looking for some feedback

Sorry but that will not work, only way to extract from an original is one of the 4 drives below. Must have been the same with your destop!!!
Not musch value of having a burning solution if you cant extract. sad.gif

The only PC DVD-ROM models the can be used to rip entire games (including SS, DMI, PFI,Video and game partitions) with XBCreator (or Schtrom) are: IDE = SH-D162C and TS-H352C; SATA =SH-D163A and TS-H353A.
And every letter in the designation is important (i.e. SH-D162A is not good)

I used my old Pioneer 111d to rip all my games and make backups. They all worked fine? I get what you are saying though. Just looking for a solution for my laptop.

How will you extract a valid SS, you obviously have an hitachi drive and the SS are not valid (and in fact not even possible to extract with latest firmware iXtreme?)
