I understand that these are already modified, but i assume that their is a slightly different install process used for them, I mean it is not just plug and play. How hard is the install process and what exactly is involved now that they are already modified? I am interested in getting one, just need these questions answered before i decide.

You can skip most of this tutorial on how to modify the 616t and go to the part about modifying your xbox for it to fix. There is a little bit of cutting but nothing that will mess you xbox up.

Try this one.

link doenst work... if you could post a different one.

Also will I have to solder wires from my xbox to the DVD drive? or can I just plug it in as I would for an xbox replacement drive?

Thanks

I had to cut three post in the xbox and one on the lid. I also had to remove the metal sheilding in the lid. I've got a couple pics with the post labled in the xbox. You will also have to cut you a "channel" into the dvd and hdd holders to run the power splitter cable through. Not to hard, I just used some wire snippers.

Neo: You don't have to do any soldering, you will have to trace 4 wires out of the yellow xdvd harness and either put them in an audio connector or cut and splice them. Using the audio connector may look neater, and you haven't cut your wires. Check out this thread at xboxhacker.net if you haven't already.
