Okay, ive had xbmc for a while now works great but i cant stand that theres no space. I have my xbox softmodded and i was wondering if you could install a new hard drive with softmod or does it have to be a mod chip? And if u can with softmod is it the same thing as mod chip?

Yeah, you can do it, and you definitely need to use your pc to do it. Not sure of a lot of the specifics off-hand, I'm pretty sure there are pinned topics and tuts on it. Be aware that you need to be able to lock the new hard drive and that you need the eeprom from your old HDD to lock to your mobo.

Right. I've looked everywhere now and i cannot seem to find the answer i'm looking for - Can you take a HD out of an old computer and put it into your softmodded Xbox?

no because soft modded means its software modded not hardware modded so bios etc is left alone so threre is no way to format it if you put it in all you will get is error 5
