OK so heres my problem, a while back ago i sent my xbox to a freind thinking he could solder in a chip for me and he ended up breaking my xbox motherboard which messed me up because i have a 160 gn philips hard drive that i had bought and was locked to that MB now i just got a new MB and wanted to know if anyone knows of anyway to unlock that HD because i have alot of things inside that HD and i dont want yo lose them.

P.S if it helps i have a smartxx V3 installed in my new xbox and if anyone can help me out i would be very grateful also when i locked my HD in my xbox that he broke i didnt save the eeprom info.

do you have the original HD still? I dont know anything about your chip, but most lock unlock utilities that I've seen need you to have the eeprom info because it's unique to your box and you'll get error 13s otherwise.

If I could kinda jack your post here since I have a similiar problem.

First your problem: If you have the original drive you can get the eeprom off that drive put it on a floppy and use hd tools to unlock your 160.

My problem: Computer misread eeprom and locked drive with messed up eeprom... now i can't unlock it. I know it sets the master password to xboxscene or some crap but how do i use it? Any help super peas?!

u need a program called config magic final. run this app thru your xbox.
when u run it, it will give u a readout of ur current eeprom settings. u need to write this info down. now change your hardware ie. dvd drive. run the app again and patch the eeprom on the fly to the known working settings and all should b good. CMF will also unlock hdd's. BTW... patching ur xbox eeprom may render ur console useless. this worked for me, but don't say i didn't warn u.
