Ok, I think it’s time for a first release.
Vinci was made as an answer to all dark graphics/skins we see these days.
I wanted to create a classy timeless skin without too many web2.0 influences.
Some Stuff:
- Only 720p is supported at the moment, I have no intention to create a 4:3 version.
- As my xbox is broken I haven’t seen Vinci on a real television, so report readability issues.
- The video-OSD is not yet finished and playing DVD’s will show parts of the original PMII skin.
- I’ve included weathericons. To use them, put the .rar in the xbmc media-folder. Don’t forget to backup the original weather.rar!
- I think the most essential functions are skinned. But I’m not a xbmc poweruser so let me know if I forgot some really important stuff.
- The xml is an absolute mess. I wouldn’t advice looking at the code.
It also contains a lot of unused PMII xml. (Vinci is based on PMII) - If you want to help create/update this skin, please contact me by sending a PM/email.
- Skincredits are in the skin.xml file.
- It’s not my homecinema you see in the picture, it’s property of Mauce, a Dutch guy living in France.

I'm not sure how it looks in 16:9.
I only tested 720p and 720p is the only supported resolution at the moment.

720p is a 16:9 resolution. 1280 x 780 pixels. Unfortunately, my TV is only 480p and 1080i so I am probably not seeing as good as it really is. Oh well, its still pretty nice.

I wouldn't create a skin here If it wasn't compatable for all user. & If I had the coding experience I could do better.

skin looks nice from the picture but it would be cool if it was compatible with regular 4:3 TVs. I realize the designer has no intention of making it for regular TVs but hopefully that will change.

There he goes again, talking shit about stuff. It's Le0n's skin, so if he doesn't want to make a 4:3 version he doesn't have to. We are lucky he shared what he had with us.
If everyone here used 16:9 and only you used 4:3, I definitely wouldn't make a 4:3 compatible skin

When I get a 720p TV (sooner than later I hope) thats all my next skin will probably support too. And as far as I know thats the main resolution that eX will support when it first comes out 4x3 is an after thought

Hmm the clock should work fine, i think. The hours just didn't show?
Btw you need an up to date xbmc version (max few weeks old) for it to work.
Strange that the visualisation doesn't work. Anyone else having the same problem(s)?
The thing is i can't test the visualisation stuff in the win32 environment, but i'll take a look at the code.

It's some old PMII code causing the problem.

Nez, there you go again shouting your mouth off. You really dont do your self any favours.
On the plus note, I thought I should tell you all that Nez is apparently working on a skin for amped..
I wait with baited breath so that we can all see just how good a theme he can come up with, and show us what he can really do if he puts his mind to it.
And Just so that you all know there is PAL / PAL 16x9 and 720p support. So I am sure he will deliver the content for all formats
PS. Nez has still to prove himself before he is anyway affiliated with me.Sorry but needed to clear that up.

Nez's attitude sucks.
While it is sad that the sikn does not support 4:3, it's Leon's decission to do so or in this case, not.
I still apreciate the effort he put into it and hope he will consider a 4:3 version in the future. If he doesn't that's too bad, but I wont die without it

I'm going to combine every negative comment on skins and/or themes he has made on this site and post it when he releases that theme. We'll see how many MS Word pages it takes up.

Horscht, actually I dont play any kind of FPS games when my children are around...most noteably because I take my responsibility as a parent very serious.
What you may call prudeness is just a desire to make sure that my children do not grow up too fast which is, I'm afraid, fast becoming an old-fashioned concept.
Nudity may be the most natural thing, but the introduction to it's various stages is something which should be discussed at an appropirate age!

Wow.
This skin looks wonderfull on my 720p LCD TV. Amazing skin!!!
The icons of preferences are great, as all the artwork. The "title" bar is also very well made.
I only have two or three suggestions/bug reporting:
- OSD missing on music playback
- White letters look great, but they lack a bit of contrast/readability. Maybe you can change the colour without messing the amazing looks of it
- If a song name is very big, the title on the bottom will overlap the clock
Are there any planings for new colour schemes?
Thanks for this amazing skin.

Any particular screen where there are readability problems?
I've tried a blue and a black theme but it didn't really work in my opinion. What colors are you thinking of?

great skin! (! x lots)
i am having the same problem as c2's above post in both let 8-12 and 8-19 (9999) builds.
if you in any menu and press the right thumbstick down (shutdown menu) vinci rolls up the background (sweet), but does not remove the main programs/music/etc pic, or the items that are there like when you actually go to the menu.
another problem i saw:
file explorer shows the amount of fre space in the middle of the screen, partially underneath the menu.
issues:
your view menu may confuse the average joe, as it doesn't have the ability to exit out with "b", or "back". doing so will either change the view ( b ), or exit you back to the home screen ( b, back ) where upon re-entering the sub menu, the view menu is still there. i realize that pressing right or left on the d-pad enough times gets rid of the menu, but others might not.
is there a way to view city 2 and 3's weather? this may be another average joe type thing, becaus i didn't find the way yet.
the rss feed font seems a little too small to read.
i am loving the skin, and besides the font sizes and a couple of things that line up weird, it looks great in 1080p too! keep up the great work!
ps: i will try to provide pictures later. i have somewhere to go.

I found a couple more things:
there is no "visualization lock" (normally pressing the back button 2x while in fullscreen vis mode)
you cannot enter the master lock settings.
trying to enter the settings of your profile or creating another profile does nothing. additionally, you can't get out of it unless you press back.
in the screens besides the home screen, when you go further down, the highlighting gets lighter. imo, it gets too light to properly see where you are navigating.
i think this skin will be the one to replace mc360 on my box. either that, or i'll have one profile with vinci and the other mc360 carbon.
keep up the great work!

you cannot see what you are entering when inputing an ip address. it works (keypad shows up, button presses correspond), but you are doing it blind.

Sep 3 2007, 08:39 AM
new stuff:
the rss font is fine. disregard that previous comment. the bold part of the header (ex: the "xbox-scene news" part), however, is a color too close to your background to be able to read.
selecting items in the file manager makes them the same color as the background, rendering them unreadable.
some of the items in the weather.rar file have not been converted yet (the lightning storm, lightning/rain storm, and a couple of the cloud pics).
