I had sold my very first case mod to somebody and has been returned because of probs.
after opening it and resoldering one of the pins on the mobo which prevented the boot from turning on, i put it back together. made some adjustments to make the connections a bit sturdier because I don't think the owner is as careful with it as I was (had that case for over a year w/o problems)

Now when i turn it on, it turns right off.
i noticed a problem a few days ago when I connected to another xbox to transfer some files and walked away. the case was turned off after 10-20 minutes. checked the fans, but they were running.

now i can't even get it to stay on for 5 seconds...

First, let me say that your case project looks excellent and looks very professionally done.

I'm assuming that its not fragging, just shutting down. Am I right???
If that's the case, then there's a possibility that you have a short circuit somewhere outside of the PSU. eg. motherboard, ROM Drive etc.
There is also the possibility (and this is more likely) that the PSU is being overloaded by the non-M$ peripherals connected to it. Are all your extra fans and LCD screen being powered by the X-Box's PSU???
If so, try disconnecting each one-by-one and seeing if that improves things.
If you have a seperate power source for the non-M$ stuff, then try disconnecting everything bar the motherboard. If it still plays up, then you have a short somewhere on the mobo.

If you're positive that the on/off switch is not grounding out, inspect the capacitors on the PSU, better yet, swap the PSU out for another one to see if this solves the problem.

I don't really know how you've got it rigged, but are you powering the LCD screen from the xbox psu?
remove the LCD from the loop and see if it still powers down.

yes, the LCD is connected to the xbox psu and is drawing power from it.
i've had it for my personal use for over a year and have never had this problem

it wasn't until i opened it up again and had to fix a pin from the LPC.


i'll have to take a closer look at the connections on the mobo from what you both have suggested.
i hope i can quickly sort it all out despite all the wires going back and forth.

shit breaks, dude. let us know what happens when you put a different psu in there and only power the xbox.
