Hy guys!
I have a little problem, getting some video files to
play which make use of the xvid codec...

"Maid In Manhattan"

VitualDub 1.5.3 reports:
934 frames masked (8 frames bad, 926 frames good but undecodable)
---> plays perfectly fine, errors in scenes are visible, but the video keeps on playing!

"The Recruit"

VitualDub 1.5.3 reports:
342 frames masked (3 frames bad, 339 frames good but undecodable)
---> video stops within the first minute (assume bad frame), going back to xbmp dash!

- Both files use xvid decoder

- XBMP version 2.4

- besides, all crashing files won't fast forward and rewind - the other ones do!

Some other movies with errors don't play aswell - others WITH errors DO!
So the both above are just an example.

There is no pattern visible to me, as why some do play and others Don't...

There's only one thing they have in common - they all use xvid codec.

Any hints would be greatly appreciated! love.gif

Are these files complete? Can you open them with WMP and see the credits? I've had this problem before, and the answer was that the files were incomplete. You might also try getting an older version of xbmp and sse if it will play there. Has happened to me many times.
madben
Yes, my files are complete.
And I don't have the older versions of xbmp.

clean install, and mine does the same. Full files work with any other mp for pc smile.gif

So, does this mean there is a problem with certain xvid files ?
--> No FR / FF and stop playing randomly.

Hi All

I've encountered this problem before on xbmp and the only solution was to reencode the files using divx, it looks like bad frames cause the problem of the movie stopping, not sure about the ff/rw not working though.

Thanks.
I'm a newbie for this. Which program do you use to re-encode files ?
madben
I did it with virtualdub (xvid -> divx 5) , and it did the job !
But the file is 850 mo now (450 mo before).
Anyway, it works now.
