OK,

I'm planning to get myself a xbox 360 but after reading up on everything, i'm wondering myself a couple of things.

The xbox 360 elite(black) has just come out in europe (i live in belgium) so i'm planning on getting this elite version.

I would like to install the xbox 360 blaster, (which seems very good to me).
Thing is, i found that only the samsung drive can make backups to PC right ?
so, what drive is microsoft using atm in their latest consoles ?
If this is not a samsung drive, can i then easily replace the drive with a samsung one ?
Is there anything important i forget ?

Sorry for these noob questions, just wonna be sure before i actually go buy something and then found out i bought the wrong stuff ...

I don't know if you read this but you can actually buy a DVD-ROM drive (a Samsung DH-162C, Google/eBay search it) for about €20-30 and then flash its internal firmware with a custom firmware called 'Kreon'. This drive is then able to rip your games to your PC's hard drive.

I'm a total newbie to 360 modding myself, having just done my own, but I'd be a little bit unsure about whether or not the new Elite consoles can even be modded. Are they even out yet? Might be an idea to wait for the modding community to give it a definate greenlight, if they haven't already...

So i should replace the dvd drive then with a Samsung DH-162C ?
i don't even know which drives microsoft is using atm ... like in the new xbox 360 elite, (couldn't find any info on that)

The xbox 360 elite is available in belgium since august 24th.

You would put the DH-162C in your PC and then you can do the ripping on your PC.
