Hello @ all
Because the old XBMC Marketplace ist down i had the idea to build a new one.
Martomo and i have collect already many stuff.
timdog82001 will make the xml coding.
Martomo know about the PHP and HTML coding and will help where he can because he dont know if he have the time.
The idea is to make one big Live Place out of timdogs Video Markplace, the Team Blackbolt Live Place and the unofficel XBMC Live Marketplace?
timdog says that its totally possible.
Enough Webspace will be there without any expenses.
Because here in Germany we have many Free Web Hoster with no Trafic or File size Limit and the Servers are very stable.
So if anybody want to help us he can contact me:
MSN: nimrod@psai.de
ICQ: 273717021

At the moment I have gathered around 2-3 GB of customized stuff for MC360, checking what themes are working at the moment, allot of them are copies and some are broken or just wallpaper packs as theme.
The plan is that we post all the themes in one section, so you can access them if you want no matter how messed up they are

And in the other section we post the themes that will be working for the current/latest version, those will also be available for download at XBMC Live Place through a script.

After searching the web and sorting themes for 2 days, I've come up with around 200 themes, which is 785 MB, anyway I'm uploading as I speak, might take awhile, my upload isn't that fast
Hoping to announce the link for all themes tomorrow or maybe even tonight.
P.S. Why is that stupid edit button only valid for 30 seconds ¬_¬

Aug 29 2007, 07:58 AM
Finally after some upload problems they are online, a total of 212 theme files are available!
I've changed the theme filenames to more readable names, for selecting them in MC360, also there some old versions marked with an "_old_" prefix.
Anyway help you self out at
http://xbmc.kilu.de/themes/Stay tuned for more updates...

Aug 30 2007, 08:04 AM
there will also be an XBMC script to access this ?
would be nice if there would be skin/theme sections on the site, and skin makers would be able to customize the directory's in the script, so they can include it with their skin.
So when people use the marketplace with their skin, the right directory's are allready set, and someone using the Vision skin doesnt start downloading an mc360 theme.
Martomo
Aug 30 2007, 08:21 AM
Do you mean something like this?
http://xbmc.kilu.de/scripts/allthemes.py (right click, save as...)If you want it to replace the current theme downloader rename it with
get_tbb_themes.py and put it in
Q:\skin\MC360\extras\XBMCLivePlaceAlso the only skin that supports XBMC Live is MC360 at the moment as far I know, but there is a web interface planned for the future, for now we're trying to gather as much content as we can, before we run into more broken links.

There are maintenance on the server till september 3.
So the site might be not working from time to time.
Sorry

Aug 30 2007, 11:48 AM
i know mc360 is the only one to use the marketplace, but with populair skins like vision and Xtv around the corner, people are making themes and such for those to.
so giving the makers of other skins the possibility to have their own marketplace would be great.
i know for sure that the skin i'm working on will need/have one.
My skin being XMBox, a PS3 style skin. working on it together with MacGyver

Aug 30 2007, 12:03 PM
Its a great idea.
But the biggest problem is not to built it in the skin.
Its the Webspace.
So when you would add stuff for every skin or just a few, you need many Webspace.
And pay Space is expansive.
But the idea is to keep all of this for free.
We use some Free Webspace but its only 1GB and i am not shure iff the hoster would double it.
But when they do, we will need it only for MC360.
blaize
Aug 30 2007, 02:00 PM
allright, i see the problem with webspace.
but still, it would be great if you guys were willing to share your sources so that someone else can put up their own marketplace if they want.
like, if you guys make a site in PHP, you would be sharing the files of the area XBMC browses (you dont have to share the entire site ofcourse

) so that other people can easely implement it for themselfs.
ofcourse mc360 is an exception, there are ALLOT of theme's for it.
other skins wont have 1 GB of theme's for quite some time, so for them webspace isnt that big of a problem

I really hope you guys will make this mc360 marketplace, but also keep other skins in mind.
either share your sources so others can set it up, or maintain a few other sites (different domains) for other skins.
I'm sure it wont be That much work to maintain other theme sites, but that's all up to you
timdog82001
Aug 30 2007, 08:45 PM
I proposed the same thing to him earlier....Perhaps if we contacted a couple of people about it we could see if they'd be willing to contribute a little money to the project to allow for purchasing some extra space. Like blaize said, most skins really have very few mods or themes available for them, so I imagine it wouldn't be that big of a deal to add that possibility. Really, I think the only other skins with anything to host other than minor skin mods (which take up essentially no space) are vision and xtv, and a little bit for containment.
blaize
Aug 30 2007, 10:03 PM
Maybe paid hosting is needed for the mc360 skin, but not for the others.
they currently have a free 1 GB host.. 1 GB

just setup multiple sites on the free hosts, and if needed.. a paid host for the mc360.
what do you think about it N1mrod ?
if you want to make this happen, the marketplace for XMBox will really be something great, and it would be a great addition to other skins also

Hey a little update here, been trying a bit of everything today, but haven't got much progress with Python scripts so far *sigh*.
- Got a little interface for
XBMC Live Place site now, with a button for MC360 themes onry!

- A few adjustments to the
allthemes.py script, like connection check, can't install theme if already exists, shows only the latest/finished version of a theme.
- Tweaked around with the XBMC Live window in MC360, now with working XBMC Live Advertisements, which would be (down)loaded on startup.
About those other skins themes, for now we focus on MC360, but maybe in the future we can make XBMC Live Place universal for every skin.
But should not be a problem to host them, because they are already hosted
Containment themesxTV themesblaize// If you're interested, I made a little universal theme installer script, only supports xTV and MC360 at the moment, but when you launch it should load the current available themes for the current selected/active skin.
http://xbmc.kilu.de/scripts/_universal_themes.py (right click, save as...)Anyway don't think space would be a problem, seeing N1mrod has 5 accounts of 1 GB and getting more every day

I've just skimmed over this topic and opened the first link in a new window (haven't looked at it yet) but if you guys need space, how's 20GB sound? (If you want more we can work something out.) As far as bandwidth there's somewhere around 3.6TB a month.
The only think I ask is that there's a credit to me (Archigos) somewhere on the site for hosting it... other then that, no money needed (unless you guys want to donate a little).
Whoever will be maintaining the backend of the site can have FTP access so you don't need to wait for me to do stuff for you and then I'll leave it up to those people to allow access if they deem fit. (Only 1 or 2 FTP accounts would be created unless there's a good reason for more.)
Let me know what you guys think (if you're responding to do this project please PM me as well as writing in here so that I get the email notification and can check back a little quicker)
Later.

Is it just on my part but are some of the themes not working?
Martomo
Aug 31 2007, 01:49 PM
Well depends, what do you mean with 'not working'..
If you can't download them, the server are probably performing maintenance, but I haven't got any problems connecting with the site for the last 2 days.
Did only the background change then you downloaded a wallpaper pack which was converted to a theme.
Or do you mean the XBMC Live button animation that is a bit off chart, because the skin is outdated?
Few skins I assume that are broken out of the back of my head are ninja.xpr (does not display System blade background) and Spirited Away.xpr(does not display Live blade background) and the only themes I can recall at the moment we are missing are:
-
DOA Babes-
Mepo Green Theme-
Chia-
Mario 3-
Harvey Birdman-
Venture Brothersand the latest versions of:
-
Spiderman 3-
Halo 3Like we mentioned before in an
other post, first we post all the themes ever released than we try to sort which are compatible with the current SVN release and we might fix a few.
But if you run into a broken theme and have a working version or have a theme that is not on the server, please PM me or N1mrod and we upload it.

Well another day has passed, worked a bit on the site and theme scripts.
- We 'upgraded' the
theme section to multiple skins on
XBMC Live Place (as requested

)
- Modified the header of the website, not a big difference, but it's some progress

- Changed the MC360 theme directory to
http://xbmc.kilu.de/themes/mc360/- Added rar/zip support to the theme scripts for future purpose, also has new links in script so the old ones won't work anymore and fixed the internet check function.
Every latest/finished released themes ever hosted from the XBMC Live Project for MC360
(200 themes)Download script (right click, save as...)Every official themes released/hosted by the author from MC360, Containment and xTV with skin support

As stated in my last post, I just skimmed this topic the first time, after reading it this time I realize that both N1mrod and Martomo are spearheading this project. I had already responded to both of you independently before it clicked that you were talking about the same thing :)
It's up to you guys if you want to share an FTP account, it's limited to 1 connection per name at a time though :( or I can give you both one and have a possible third one setup for a spare.

Well if it's possible I'd appreciate if we could connect the FTP at the same time, because I don't wanna end up kicking N1mrod of the FTP by accident when he is uploading the 200+ themes or the other way

Looks like the site is having maintenance again, sorry for this, should be stable after 3th of September, or when switching servers

We are also mirroring the xTV and Containment themes now.
@Booker T, the scripts should be working and updated now, it gave an error because the Xbox was 'Busy' detecting internet connection, so removed the internet check.

I just created the new subdomain, FTP account, etc. needed for the new XBMC Live Marketplace Project. Users interested in viewing this project it's available at
http://xbmclive.ictcsc.net (Due to DNS updating there will be a ICT/CSC* Maintenance page shown until the DNS is done at which point the page will be blank until the guys upload the site. DNS updating can take upwards of 12 to 24 hours from the time of this post to finish, nothing I can do to speed that up.)
Martomo/N1mrod... You don't have to wait for the DNS to finish before uploading, hell if you can get to it before hand that's great so people wont have to look at a blank page

If you guys need anything else, email me or send me a message via MSN/ICQ.

Hello everyone thanks to
Archigos we have a new and more stable server.
From now one we use
http://xbmclive.ictcsc.net/ as main site for XBMC Live Place.
From now on
http://xbmc.kilu.de/ will just be a mirror for XBMC themes, so every other posted links are invalid now, can't edit my old posts for some reason, here are the new updated links:
- All latest/finished published themes ever hosted/mirrored by XBMC Live Project, compatible with every skin so far.
Download script (right click, save as...) latest release 2nd of September 2:00 PM GMT+1- Every official themes released/hosted by the author from MC360, Containment and xTV.
Download script (right click, save as...) latest release 2nd of September 2:00 PM GMT+1These scripts will only show themes for the current active skin, that if supported/or any themes are available.
P.S. Not sure if this has to do with the DNS, but some links are not fully operational yet, so if you get a not found or forbidden, please try again later.

Hello everyone, timdog, N1mrod and me have been brainstorming all last night for a new name for this project, considering XBMC Live Place is mostly for MC360 only and we are aiming at all/as much skins as possible, so from now on the project/site will be called:
XBMC Black MarketWe also made a new layout for the website, I hope you like it, there will be some modifications added in the future, but at the moment I'm jumping back on writing an uploader script for the site.
Some minor updates, besides the layout:
- We've added install comments to RAR compressed files on the site, for people who are unsure where to install the contents.
- Added 3 new soundpacks, Mortal Kombat Babes, Mortal Kombat 2, MC360 Beta
- Added the extra themes from SVN to the site, PM3(Vision), White(xTV), Carbon & Glass(MC360), if you ever deleted the themes by accident, you can download them again, without downloading full package.
Also please feel free to use our
scripts, if anyone has any suggestions or comments please feel free to share them.

My server guys responded already about the python issue, but the goof didn't realize the scripts were supposed to be run from an Xbox so he did more bitching then helping when he tried running them from a command prompt.

I explained everything so it should be resolved soon (I hope). Until then, for users that click on the scripts link in the last post, please download the rar file for the script you need as clicking the .py will cause a 500 Internal Error for now.
Martomo, N1mrod, and Timdog... if you guys want I can also change the subdomain to reflect the new name (and still allow the xbmclive. to work as well).

Got a message from the guys... You can now visit either
http://xbmclive.ictcsc.net or
http://blackmarket.ictcsc.net and they will be the exact same site. (Granted as before the blackmarket one has to wait for DNS to finish updating as I just set the domain. It could take up to 12 hours or so from the time of this post.)
Martomo, both subdomains are linked to the same directory, so you can just continue to do the updates the same as always. If you guys want email addresses for the domain too let me know what you want. I can do real addresses (login via my webmail address) or I can do aliases that will forward the email to an existing account somewhere else.
It's almost 10am and I have a meeting at 11 so I'll be back sometime later today.

Sep 4 2007, 06:16 PM
Thanks again Archigos for the new subdomain.
I've got a question though, I'm working on a upload script, but when the file gets bigger then 8 MB it times out, is there a way possible maybe on the server side to maximize that to 20 MB, seeing allot of themes are above 10 MB, anyway I'm off for today, got a busy day tomorrow.
Archigos
Sep 4 2007, 11:09 PM
Are you saying it's timing out when you're trying to upload files bigger then 8MB? There isn't a restriction on upload size as long as it's via FTP. There's only a 20MB limit if I upload via the Control Panel interface I have. The server itself is sitting a hell of a lot closer to you then me...

(I believe it's somewhere in Germany) I can see if there's been any problems lately or if they did any maintanence.
Martomo
Sep 5 2007, 05:10 PM
FTP works fine, but I was talking about uploading through a PHP script, but when I try to upload files bigger then 8 MB they timeout, I have the same problem on my localhost, but all my php log says is this when I'm trying to upload an 50~ish MB file:
CODE
POST Content-Length of 59525436 bytes exceeds the limit of 8388608 bytes in Unknown on line 0
I tried editing the
Resource Limits and
File Uploads settings in php.ini, but didn't had so much success, but I'm not really familiar with servers, maybe you can try it out or if you know an other way then PHP for uploading files let me know

Hey, for those of you who don't realize it, I'm the xml/photoshop (I'm not amazing at photoshop, if anybody wants to help out here, i'm sure they'd be happy to accept another member) guy for the team and I've finished most of the basic xml framework, so now it's just a wait to finish the website and the scripts to connect to the website. Once those scripts are completed and WindowXML is set up, there'll be more work for me, but I don't think it should take too long. Anyway, N1mrod thought it would be a good idea to post some images to show that we're for real. Here are some initial screenshots...

If you have any suggestions of other things you think should or could go in here, feel free to point them out. Also, if you can think of anything that can go in the update screen to fill all that empty space, I'm trying to think of something to go in there myself, so any ideas would be appreciated.

Sep 5 2007, 10:49 PM
Martomo, if you're trying to upload via a php script then I think the timeout is related as you suspected to the php.ini. Not sure which version you're using but I have both PHP4 and PHP5 running on the server taking care of different parts as needed. Sadly I don't have access to change their settings so if it's not working then I'm afraid you'll have to come up with another solution.

question though, are you trying to make a skin downloader and soundpacks, or are you basically doing that along with packaging together all the best scripts out there?

i'm sure the guys would love to have any help they can get, especially with scripts and working on the website....somebody with some talent with illustrator would probably be nice too. We might be making mods for some of the other skins too, so if you wanted to help out with xml with that, that would be a possibility too. Anyway, i suggest you talk to n1mrod...i'm sure he'll pop in and reply in a while here. As far as I know, we're not really packaging any scripts together, other than what I already put together for the video marketplace mod. I think martomo is writing all the scripts from scratch, so hopefully in the end we'll have a variety of scripts, for downloading splash screens, trainers maybe, sound packs, wallpaper packs, gamer pictures, themes and so on.

Depends on if you mean for the mod... yes, we can put some up... If you meant on the site for the themes and stuff, we'll end up doing that, but not for awhile because it's going to take a long time to screencap all 200+ themes that we have on there. Sep 13 2007, 08:18 PM
Yeah, I can see the work involved in setting up screens for all the themes your hosting.
From an end user perspective however, they are forced to download small batches at a time to see if they like them. If not, download even more until they find something they like.
If you don't have the manpower to put up screenshots for all your themes then perhaps some kind of batch download script where you can select multiple themes and download them all as 1 zip.
I personally would make it a goal to take, say 5 theme screenshots a day. At that rate it may take a while, but at least you would eventually get them all done.
Just some thoughts, thanks for your efforts.
