What i want to do, is solder a 4 pin power cable from a PC from a power supply to my 360 motherboard, so then i can easily hook up case fans and cathodes, is this possible and would it be the ideal way for doing pc mods on a 360?

Why not just add a fan header instead?

Edit: For cathodes you only need the first 2 wires (i think at least), so you could just cut the molex and solder the 2 wires to a 5v or 12v spot on the mobo.

Correct. Two of the pins are for power and one is to relay information back from the fan about RPMs (so not needed).

Just be careful about how much power you draw from the mainboard.
