Hi There,
My 360 finally packed it in after ever increasing instability. All fixes ranging from eraser, penny to x-clamp replacement only worked temporarily with each fix giving decreased spans of usaged.
The initial fix went on well into ~6 months (eraser). I thought I had it licked. However at the end the console needed almost daily attention till one day never coming back from the grave.
This 360 was manufactured early 2006. So I ask, is it safe to get the latest systems with the added GPU heatsink - or has nothing significant changed in the reliability of this crapfest ?
Cheers,
Muz

Well you still get the 3 year warranty - I don't think the Falcon is fool proof, due to (from what I've read) the fact that only the CPU is 65nm. The GPU is still the same one that they've had from the beginning - which would be fine if they switched over to decent solder for attaching it to the board. I have read of some Halo 3 consoles getting the 3 red lights, but I don't remember seeing if they were the older motherboard, or the Falcon board.

You're right, the comedy continues. I think it's about time somebody sued M$. Whats worse is I use the 360 also as an MCE extender, pumping all my HDTV through it. When 360 dies the TV becomes essentially obselte. How stupid are these M$ people? Seriously considering jumpring ship from this system no matter how good the software is.

My refurbishing company is already seeing plenty of the systems with the new heatsinks come in. So from what im seeing how this design is pretty new and they are already getting the 3 red lights, its not doing much to help.
